Piggy backs the warriors (the chef bit made me laugh)
Former Wigan hooker Mark Riddell has backed the Warriors to beat another former team, St George, in tonight's World Club Challenge.
Writing in a new column for the Sydney Sun-Herald, 'Piggy' said:
"I'm looking forward to watching the World Club Challenge. I'm a bit biased but I'm tipping Wigan to beat St George Illawarra. The conditions will be in their favour, and they are just such a professional side. They are at the cutting edge in so many ways, like having two full-time chefs on the payroll to cook us breakfast and lunch. Even if one of them was employed just to cater for me!"
Riddell also spoke of his move back to Australia where he has signed for Sydney Roosters, and the birth of his new son Harrison.
"Family was the main motivator for coming back" he said.
"Harrison's arrival about a month ago was just the pick-me-up we needed after learning that my mum, Sandra, was diagnosed with breast cancer. My family kept the finer details from me in the early stages, knowing I'd be on the first plane home to be with Mum.
"That's the last thing she would have wanted. But the good news is that after all of the chemo and radiation therapy, she's getting much better and her hair is starting to grow back. It's a similar situation to what Braith Anasta's mum has gone through, and it's been good to be able talk to him about it. I've also got to thank the Warriors for their understanding. Wigan coach Michael Maguire lost his father to cancer last year, and he fully supported my decision."

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
