There's no way they'll sell us Percival but they've signed an NRL centre and still have Peyroux on the books.

Percival and Morgan will be our starting centres next year with Wellington and Fleming as backup. Peyroux will be used in the backrow.

I assume this has taken the place of the yearly Makinson rumour since he's been out all year!

Could be worth offering a cheeky transfer fee for Percival considering saints are skint

There would be uproar over the hill if we signed Percival akin to the Connelly signing. He is a class player who will only get better and I'd love him at Wigan but unless he is OOC and wants to leave it ain't gonna happen.

I'm sure the hypocrisy of that would be lost on McAnus after we allowed Matty Smith to return to them.

Absolutely no chance of Saints letting Percival go to us, or us using so much cap space on a centre of his caliber when we have Gelling and Gildart. I reckon our signings for 2017 are done now, with Mossop to either leave or go our on loan.

For me are still a utility back short.

If we get an injury to either Gelling or Gildart then we'll more than likely see Bateman drop in to cover. Whilst we've got a few different options in the back row, a couple of them (Lockers and Joel) have fitness question marks against them. It's not highly unlikely that at some point this year we'll be missing Joel, Lockers and Bateman from then pack.

A Sarginson type cover signing would have covered that area.

The main obstacle to Percival would be that Saints simply wouldn't sell.

People are wrong to assume the Saints and Wigan top brass don't get on. They get on with each other just fine; it's possibly a better relationship than most other clubs have with each other.

But while I'm sure Wigan would love to have Percival in the centre (and as main goal-kicker) and make Gildart their explosive utility back, McManus must know there'd be complete uproar from the Saints supporters.

Unless Saints are in dire financial straits that we don't know about - as they were in the era that saw them sell Andy Platt and Gary Connolly to their deadliest rivals - I can't think of any conceivable deal that would see them send us their best prospect.

Saints published accounts since they moved into their new stadium show losses of around £5.6 million. The rumour is that they have lost around £1 million this year but tat won't be confirmed until next August when their accounts will be published.

Mike Coleman has a long standing agreement in absorbing any losses the club incur whilst the club settle in at LP.

Last years accounts showed the Saints owed the holding company ~12m in last seasons accounts, which is convertible into shares at Colemans discretion in Nov 2018. (It was Nov 2017 in the accounts the year before, so it's basically being extended for as long as Coleman/ McManus is happy to be chairman.)

What's another million on that? :p
