In the past Dennis Betts, Sean Edwards, Ellery Hanley, Andy Gregory, Martin Offiah were the soul of the club most of these postions are now taken up with overseas players because the present management are always looking at the short term fix option.
You can,t do that in Superleague anymore the driving force is Leeds and St Helens and to some extent Hull in home grown talent.
When the soul of the club is lost you get inconsistency, frustration and inplosion this is what seems to be happening to this once proud club.

you are right wigan have let some grt players go ,and brought in rubish imports ,the league is full of ex wigan accadmy players playing for other sl clubs ,i think you have to build slowly and add to your local talent with top quality overseas ,to help bring the young locals on ,this is what leeds have done for some time now and where copying it tbh

Harsh on Hock, before his injury he was one of our only forwards along with Feka that was causing any problems for Cas. He picked up a bad knock on the hip (I think) and obviously couln't continue to play on.

Another poster who fails to justify there opinion.

Is my opinion less valid than yours regardless of the fact i usually get to see a dvd of the game?

So, tell me, when did you see the DVD of the Castleford game on which you have been pontificating since last night?

Armchair critics, particularly ones who haven't even seen the game, really pee me off.

Get off your lazy arris, and get yourself down to the stadium with the rest of us.

I also love the bit about justifying your opinion. How can you have an opinion on a game you haven't even seen.

Priceless.

15th October 1989 - the beginning of a love affair.

I think it was no coincidence that the 20 minute spell in the 2nd half when the players deviated from Noble's safety first tactics and played off the cuff rugby, then it was also the period when we looked creative and actually put points on the board. The talent is apparent in periods like that, so its clearly just the tactics which are wrong. Confidence is also low - in the last ten minutes the players reverted to the Noble tactics, obviously fearing making a mistake and losing the game - so instead trying to grind a way over the line in hope more than expectation, rather than stepping up, taking a risk and potentially winning it.

Noble is trying to fit players into his gameplan which doesn't suit their natural ability, rather than adapting the gameplan to suit the attributes of the players that he has, as any good coach should to get the best out of his players.

Noble's negativity and inability to innovate beyond Plan A is killing the team.

No not seen it yet and probably will not sadly.

I do not have an opinion of the game, other than that formed from the radio comentary.

I have an opinion of Noble as a coach, and i have seen much to back this up.
