I think one of the problem's is people tend to live in the past, theirs no denying that Wigan were one of the great sides in Rugby League, and without question the history will always remain.
However it's 2009, the super league is the strongest and most competitive it has ever been and the fact it's so wide open and even is only good for the game. In the past Wigan dominated the league, and for a Wigan fan it was great but for everybody else it was just plain boring.
Now its different, we are behind alot of the others such as Saints, Leed's and we have struggled to keep up the pace with those sides.
The history the club has had makes expectancys so high and i think in the modern era unrealistic crazy for me to say maybe! but true.
Our team is talented but in short not good enough on a consistent basis to get anywhere.
The only thing making us a big club is the name Wigan, rather than the players that we have!
So where do we go from here? Lenagans in a bit of a situation, does he sack Noble now? or wait till the end of the season when his contract runs out anyway?
Sacking him now in the short term would be good as we would have this winning streak as is always seems to be the case with a new man, however what about the long term? would we be better off?
My take on all of this is seeing it out till the end of the season and make the change then!, if need be. Doing it now wouldn't acheive anything? we aint gonna win the league and if we make the playoffs its likely to be the last position if we make it at all!
Losing yesterday was bad, and no disrespect to The Crusaders who were fantastic, but the attitude was wrong, and the players didn't really do the basics right.
So yes stick with what we have till the end of the season and then i would expect Noble to go! hes linked with the NRL or was?
