On the upside to any NRL release clause, at least that will surely mean that if he signs it’s on a contract in excess of just a year. I’ve said previously he’s he’s only prepared to sign for a year then so be it. We need to replace Williams with proven quality and if doing it for just a year buys us more breathing space then so be it. If this deal comes off he may or may not go after the year but if the club can plan in advance then so be it.

It’ll be interesting if it does come off to see if we get a partner for him or if the plan is to play Leuluai with him. It doesn’t look like Lam fancies Shorrocks or Sammut, so that leaves Josh Woods or Harry Smith as options other than Leuluai. If Tommy does go then you’d think he’ll be replaced with another half.

That's of Lam will be around in 2020 and be allowed to decide on recruitment for that year.

I do find it very strange that a head coach has no say in recruitment. Jake Bibby (in his interview on Wigan TV) said he hasn’t even had a conversation with Lam and was looking forward to meeting him!

Yes if need be. We can’t keep giving these get out clauses. They either sign a contract that they commit to or they don’t sign one, simple.
The whole recruitment / contract process at Wigan needs to change, the release of top players at Wigan compared to other teams is ridiculous. Different topic I know but still infuriating lol
