Having seen Gillys comments on twitter or insta i cant remember which to Batemans announcement he is coming back im not convinced he is intending on leaving next year

I hope you are right TD. Maybe the club are trying to negotiate a new deal.

In theory now probably isnt the best time to be moving to the other side of the world and being so far away from friends and family. On the flip side, the NRL is back up and running and have managed to establish at least some financial security with their new TV deal.

With all these rumours about players who may leave, one that bothers me is Joe Burgess. On his day he's as good as any winger in SL. Should he move to Salford and then scores 25+ tries in a season no doubt Saints or Wire will be in for him. I know Charnley is at Wire and he's another good wingman who we let go. We can't keep them all but do let some very talented players leave the club. Joe Burgess is one of them.

If I’d ever seen a player that needs a change of scenery it’s this guy. He’s just gone so stale, been out of form for 18 months.

He will be a great signing for someone else. But needs to move on from Wigan IMO.

I’d look at bringing Tom Davies back.

He was a world-beater once, but his heart hasn't been in it for quite a while now.

I don't think he's the best advised player. Stupid comments about wanting to go back to Aus as soon as he re-signed for Wigan were bound to get people's backs up and maybe even set the club itself wondering about his long-term plans. But it's been his form that's mainly let him down.

To stay that he's been a shadow of his former self is an insult to shadows.

Every time he takes the field, I hope and pray that the old Budgie will suddenly reappear, but as others have said, it's been a long time now. Well over a year, and there is no sign of that other guy. I think we're better looking for someone who actually wants to be out there.

Have to agree with the above comments. He may still flourish elsewhere, but at Wigan,asked the question, do you really want to wrest that left-wing spot away from Liam Marshall, the answer was no. And he had the tools to comfortably do that. And of course, that's not being unkind to Marshall at all, who I think we all agree has come on no end to be a top finisher. Whether Burgess can fire up again, we'll have to wait and see.

There are better wingers at other Super League clubs.

I think we can cope with Manfredi and Marshall as starters with back up from Bibby. If Gildart stays then we’re fine doing it that way IMO. Should Gildart leave that could then change as we’d be a bit light. One injury to a winger or centre and we’d be down to juniors only. Ideally I think you want a back up winger and a back up centre to your starters and I’d have no issue with Bibby and Hankinson being those players.
