Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Clark's contract was until end of 2019 season so if he's already been signed by the club it suggests a fee has been paid.

Wonder if they've been able to get Hamlin off the books to accommodate Clark.

Not necessarily if Cas wanted the cap space.

Strange how things go isn’t it? The number of complaints we see on here about bringing back past players to either play or coach is huge yet here we have someone wishing for it to happen.
Personally I wouldn’t want Waney to come back. That ship has sailed, let’s move on. I’d take Batty though!!

Seconded with Wane. It’s been and gone.

Bateman and Sutton I would take back in a heartbeat. Sutton especially has improved leaps and bounds since his move there, it shows either how much better his coaching is or that Canberra’s style suited his play. He certainly didn’t show those level of performances with us.

Sutton’s improvements are down to focus IMO. A focus on getting himself fit and loosing the puppy fat and focus on match days to go full tilt at all times rather than going through the motions at points.

Shame playing for Wigan couldn’t get that focus from him. He was a good player for us but clearly left plenty in the tank.

If you say so, I disagree
Playing with better players, playing with better structures, I'm a Sean Wane fan (wouldn't want him to come back though but more on that some other time) but maybe better coaching etc can all equally be the reason behind any perceived improvement.

If he did leave things in the tank it can equally be claimed to be Wigan's fault for not getting it out of him

But whilst he was here it's like what's happening with George Williams, Dan Sarginson, Joe Burgess, Oliver gildart, Sam last year and Zak hardaker this, Sam Powell anthony gelling (who I'd have had back in a heartbeat)etc.
People pining for better players than them so over exaggerating perceived faults with them to expose why they need to go when other players identified as replacements have equally as many faults etc in their game.
We either A/ cant afford some of those unrealistic options.
Or B/ When those players don't work out well we identify other players and rip them to pieces so we can just keep going out buying more players until eventually it works.

Unfortunately you cant do this anymore, contracts used to be relatively small with winning money etc. Topping things up, now co tracts are everything so to speak and you have to Plan ahead.

Ryan sutton was 8/10 for Wigan for 3/4 years and people wanted more out of him when he was only 22, he was always going to get better, will get better.
But peoples criticism of a player who at 21 years of age was winning grand finals and WCC playing st prop belting belting players hes no right to be on the same field as made him a very good player in my opinion.
If some want to say hes improved then fair enough, but no need to make out that in any way he want very good for us or not arsed.
We've seen how much were missing him this year!
