With the injuries we have had I'm not sure how often Lam has been able to name his best 17 or how often he has managed to name the same 17 as the previous week. Back in 2016 and 2017 when we had an injury crisis we were poor. 2016 we rallied to the title, 2017 we were awful even with our best players back so it is hardly unknown territory in terms of losing games.

Personally, I would like to see Lam given a shot but as head coach he needs to have full control over signings, back room staff etc which as an interim I don't think he would have had this season.

In the modern game it’s rare you get to keep a settled team or avoid injuries. In the grand scheme of things I don’t think we’ve had it too bad this season and he’s had his pivots available most of the time (Hardaker, Williams, Leuluai, Powell and Lockers) yet I see no signs of things clicking or any new style of play taking shape.

I’ve always said I’ll give him twenty games or so to form a judgment and my judgment is that we look no further on in our development under him then we did in the first few rounds of the season. That is a scary though tbh.

With inferior players around them though the said pivots will struggle.

Several times at magic we found Hankinson in space but he didn't have the speed to do anything with it whereas Marshall or Davies would have done. Everyone slates our pack at full strength so throw 3 or 4 kids in and the task for Williams is again even harder.

There have been times this season where we have been missing 6, 7 and even 8 of our first choice 17. Every single side would struggle. See Saints yesterday as an example. If they had to play every week minus 6 players they wouldn't be flying as they currently are.
