Gutted to be honest. Was hoping this would be a loan deal and we could move Burgess on next year unless a massive improvement.

We did have too much cap space tied up in wingers though, and news on Wigan today Manfredi is already full fit.

Hmm..not sure about this. Was only a year ago people were talking about him as a potential England winger. But he definitely can't be guaranteed a place in the 13 so understand it on that front. Marshall is the better finisher and defender, Davies is the better metre maker and kick returner.

We've had depth in the wings on paper but all four have been hit by long term injury. We need better luck with Burgess and Manfredi though Bibby and French have played most of their careers on the wing.

Not holding put too much hope on further additions - the chairman has already said we will need to trim the squad.

Wrong decision, for me.
I’d have driven big b**ls budgie to Dover myself and told him to catch the ferry.

We must be very confident in Manfredi getting back

Sorry to see TD. Would run his blood to water & can finish. 2 things the previously mentioned can’t be arsed to do.

Sorry to see him go but finances dictate, unfortunately. Not long since him being regarded by many on here as the best (and possibly with the most potential) winger at the club. All the best mate. I’m sure you’ll have a successful career.

Still hoping to see fully firing Burgess and Manfredi, if we do then Davies would be 5th choice.

I like him but he’s limited IMO and when at the top of their games, the other three are better.

This day was always going to come from the moment Davies and Marshall broke though. You can’t carry four wingers in your squad. If you have the luck with injuries Saints have had, they’ve said you can’t even carry three and shifted Swift on to Hull.

I'm not really sure what everyone's problem with Budgie is. Imo some of the stuff he gets stick for goes unnoticed when other 'fan favourite' wingers do the same thing.

It's probably because he had the audacity to say he wanted to play in the NRL...

I just want to see Burgess look like he’s enjoying himself again. I don’t know if it’s a lack of confidence in his form or his knee or just a genuine feeling of not really enjoying being out there on the field but he look borderline depressed at times last year.

His career has flattered to deceive so far for me. I honestly thought he could be one of the worlds best when he broke through and I do think that NRL move came too soon and hurt him. There’s more than enough talent there to stick by him for at least another 12 months though. I do have a feeling he’ll bounce back next year.

Another academy-developed player given away to our rivals. Meanwhile we continue to pay high wages for Burgess to underperform.
