Yeah I always felt he got harsh criticism, I think a lot of the fan base were still at the point were all halfbacks were expected to be as good as Edwards

After seeing the performances of Hastings playing for GB, I only hope he is not a one season wonder!

I am not worried about Hastings in a Wigan shirt. He may or may not be the star of last year but during the GB series he certainly was not used to his strengths. The whole balance of the GB sides were off, especially the last game when we had a team full of out of place half backs. Hastings was relegated to a bit part player under Bennet's 100% completion and take no chances rule. I imagine that Lam will have his own ideas.

IMO the biggest problem with Hastings is he's going to have to have a good month off now. For sake of argument let's say he reports back 2nd of January, that leaves him just four weeks to forge a new partnership with whoever Lam decides will be his HB partner before the Wire game.
On the plus side Wire are in the same boat with Widdop and Austin.

Hastings will be a great player for Wigan IMO.

I wouldn't judge him too harshly on the back of that tour, as a controlling half who found Hodgson/Widdop constantly in the way and the worst outside backs I can remember.

He was the victim of a criminally poor selection policy and rank bad coaching.
