It looks as though Lenagan has had a look at the business model at the club.

They are looking to recruit a new financial controller and marketing manager.

https://www.wiganwarriors.com/news/2019 ... controller

https://www.wiganwarriors.com/news/2019 ... ng-manager

I presume the two previous employees have "moved on"

Those are two very important jobs at the club.

Our marketing seemed to go downhill when Mick Hogan left, and again when Simon Collinson departed. I'm sure I read somewhere that Martin McLoughlin was head of marketing but I thought his career up to that point was as a coach? It seemed a bit left field unless there's two people with the same name.

The salary cap debacle at the start of this year didn't exactly paint our finance department in a positive light. The independent tribunal found there was no deliberate breach of the cap but that meant when it comes to the salary cap they didn't have a clue what they were doing.

Hopefully good appointments will be made for both positions.

A member of your marketing team left a couple of years ago (maybe slightly less) and got a more senior role at Warrington. He’s been a major part of their overhaul in terms of their marketing and social media content. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but he’s certainly got people talking and created a lot of interest over at Warrington. Fair to say he’s been a loss to Wigan too.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

Paul Macleod. I don’t know if it’s purely down to him at Warrington but he certainly has had a huge part to play. In fairness to Warrington they’re not trying to widen the brand of RL, they’re trying to widen the brand of Warrington Wolves which in a town as big and diverse as Warrington with RL being the only top level sport in the town, is much easier to do than at a club like Wigan.

That’s not an excuse by the way, we ought to be doing an awful lot better than we are, but it’s reality.

He is, always found time to have a chat about the club and rugby related things in general. He was a big loss at Wigan, but I think the media/marketing aspect is very fluid and I expect he'll move on again in a few years time.
