How right you are. Phillip Hughes will be the youngest person to earn his first cap since Craig McDermott in 1984-85.

However CA also decided to go with Bryce McGain who at 38 is the oldest to earn his first cap since Bob Holland also in 1984-85.

aussies have lost 2 of the all time great cricketers recently in mcgrath and warne. in addition they have lost the likes of langer and gilchrist. good as the aussie sporting system is these players are not automatically replaced

Hayden's also gone, Symonds is having his "issues" and Brett Lee is injured. That's a hell of a lot of players to replace in one team.
