A few today after a relatively quiet yesterday (1 bet, 1 second).

14:10 Huntingdon - Abbotts Mount @ 100/1. Interesting runner in the opener at Huntingdon today. Has some decent form in Points though patently fails to stay the full trip between the flags including last time out (first time out this season) at Whitfield when pulled up after the saddle slipped in a decent Restricted, he never got into the race but opened up as a 2/1 favourite for the race. He won his Maiden at Garnons last March by 20 lengths "2nd till led 5th, clear 7th, unchallenged" over 2m 4f. He then had to step up to the full trip (3 miles) and was pulled up twice in winners races last season. The ground shouldn't be a problem and providing he's put in the race I'd expect a big run from him.

16:30 Naas - Shamrock Hall @ 25/1. Lightly raced under rules with just the one run to his name when unplaced over 2 1/2m at Clonmel last time out, he'd previously won a Hunter Chase over that same course and distance and had also taken home a winners of one at Carrigtwohill and a winners of two at Lingstown earlier in his career. He's been dropped 2lbs for that run at Clonmel and the step up to 3m will be in his favour.

I'm also going to be backing Caddy Man each-way in the 16:30 Naas.

Final bet on the day:

14:40 Auteuil - Katenko @ 11/2 ew. It's the first meeting of the new Paris Spring season at the major track in the Bois De Boulogne. Katenko won three of his four chases at the course in the Autumn and fell on his only other start, he picked up a nice Grade 3 at the end of November on his final start as a 4yo and is up against a few useful horses - most notably his fellow 5yo Kauto Stone who took home the big 4yo Chase last year though this half-brother to Kauto Star will undoubtedly have bigger fish to fry in Paris this season, most notably in the Grand Steeplechase De Paris at the end of May so is likely using this as a prep and will come on for the run and also Tell No One who was a very useful hurdler having raced in age restricted chases in his younger years.

Ran well for a long way until dropping out 3 out and eventually coming down at the last - he was winded but thankfully got up

3rd - took it up going up the back straight but then dropped back as Quarouso and Oculi went past him approaching the last before staying on again.

Kauto Stone travelled well enough but dropped out in the straight to finish 5th or 6th. He'll improve for the run.

Ikorodu Road 3:40 Newton Abbot

Back out after falling at the first when well fancied on Saturday. Horse is perfectly fine and wouldnt be running if the trainer felt it had any ill effects from falling on Saturday, however the only issue is whether it has actually done any harm to the horse. Its well weighted and nicely priced at 2/1, its a simple excersise of you pay your money you take your chances. If it jumps round, it should win but the obvious risk is will it jump round. Im hopefull more than positive and have backed it to win my stake back from Satuday. So not a massive bet but wouldnt want to see it win today without having anything on it.

Fallen in love with Miss Charlotte Evans (whoever she is). What a peach of a ride on Oca De Thaix in the 5:10 @ Fos Las. Leading early on, it made a mistake and then seemed to go backwards rather quickly as the field moved on, then turning for home it was still a good 15 lengths behind but looked to be travelling fine, come through on the inside to win late on. Landed a nice double for me which I had given up on as I saw the horse back tracking.

CP, if shes riding in a PTP in Yorkshire over the next few weeks, let me know and I'll call and buy her a drink !

(Got the Ikorodu Road losses back and a bit more, might top up a little more on Champion Court again !!).

14:10 Southwell - Nollaig Shona (Runner-up on her first start over the track when chasing home Six Wives - polytrack winner since when wearing the first time visor under todays jockey. That was a fillies handicap and although this is a stronger race she looks overpriced at 16/1 against a horse who's been overated by the betting in the shape of Where's Reilly. Soopacal is another who should go well at a big price).
