KEEP CALM AND PASS THE BALL TO SYKES

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 : Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:46 pm
Terry should keep that big gob of his shut! If I was the manager and heard anyone of my players spouting off to that degree in public, I would have collared him before training and said to him, "MY OFFICE, NOW!" Maybe its Capello's still limited grasp of the English language, but I believe there's more to the "big mistake" comment that Fabio made in his ITV interview than meets the eye...

They don't seem to have the killer instinct.

Their build up play and passing around the field is excellent, but in the final third, they don't seem to want to shoot or score.

Not sure it's that, they don't seem to have tempo to their play they have at their best - maybe that will kick in as the tournament progresses (if they do), if anything I'd say they looked a little jaded.

Was nice to hear some truth coming out of England for a change instead of beating around the bush and Capello talking shite in his poor English. If Capello can't afford to drop him anyway, Upson and Dawson at centre half!?

Capello only has himself to blame if he would've picked the right squad of players England wouldn't be in this position anyway.

Truth? More like John "it's all about me" Terry trying to manipulate the situation to try and look like he's the main man in the set-up, no doubt motivated by the fact Capello stripped him of the captaincy.

Sadly for him, by all accounts it looks like none of the rest of the squad bought it either, if Terry had such a problem with Capello's methods why hadn't he mentioned it earlier? He's had a couple of years.

What has Terry said that is so wrong?

Doesa Capello really have a problem with what he's said, or is it just easier to make the story about JT's "dissent" rather than explain the two games of utterly dreadful football that England have just served up?

If Capello has succeeded in anything during his tenure it is in exploding the southern-media devised myth of Greatness that surrounds John Terry. I've never rated the guy. He's never convinced me in an England shirt and his off-the-field activities leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

Hopefully this tournament will be the end of him.

I'm not expecting anything special against Slovenia. The players remain short of confidence, but I think the fear of going home early should be enough to earn us a lucky victory (which will relieve the pressure and allow us to play to something like our ability during the knock-out phase).

Capello probably wouldn't have had a problem with what he had said if he said it to him, not gone whining to the press.

Along with just about all the senior members of the England squad Terry has come out in recent months with how much better England are for Capello's tough methods as opposed to how it was before, all of a sudden there's a problem with them, funny that.

He ought to man up and take a lead on the pitch or in the group (like all senior players should, armband or not), not whine to the press who are already looking to stick the boot in at the best of times, even that hasn't worked because although he got the reporting he wanted from some media, most of them seemed to see right through it.

Eh?

Capello didn't explode the myth about Terry, the "southern media" did. Capello just went along with what they were demanding. And if you think that England are better off now after seeing Ferdinand and Gerrard as England captains then you're blind.

Football is such a volatile game, if Capello wins his next two games he's back in the good books.
