I think Scholes has been in the same boat as Ryan Giggs. No clubs will have shown an interest in them because there was no chance they were getting them.

They were at the biggest club in England. No club in England would have even bothered thinking about getting them. A major Spanish or Italian side would have been wary of paying such a massive premium for them given the poor travelling that English players have done.

When Souness, Rush, Linekar went abroad they were doing so because they could earn a lot more abroad than they could in England. For Scholes and Giggs they could earn the big money without going to another country and wasting their time speaking another language.

Wasn't Giggs to Inter Milan a common rumour in the early noughties? Sure he was constantly linked with Italian teams when he was in his 20's.

Correct. Juve were very interested on Scholes too. But don't let facts get in the way of LGJM's moan. I'd take the opinions of the likes of Zidane, Xavi and Lippi over some opinions on an Internet message board.

Nice to see Beckham there today. I think Summerbee should be on Sky every week. Comedy gold.

On City, it will be interesting to see how they react now. They need a top 4 finish this year. If not it will be impossible to keep Tevez and very tough to hold onto Silva. They are class. A big club will surely be looking at Kompany too, he seems to be superb week in week out.

If they'd come on the scene 10 years later teams would be throwing stupid money at them. Thats just the way it was back in the nineties. No one could believe it when Shearer went for a record 15 million and it wasn't until about 5 years later that we spent 18 million buying Rio from West Ham. Now that kind of money is seen spent all the time at most top division clubs!
