I might be alone in this but I thought Arsenal were largely terrible tonight. Only a ridiculous goalkeeping error from Valdes brought them back into it. Van Persie before that moment hadn't hit a ball properly all night. All his passes had been poorly weighted and he had sliced every shot well wide. He's one of those players who spends 80 minutes of a match wasting chance after chance then scores one and acts like he's the big dog.
Fabregas was another who misplaced just about every touch he had until the goals. Luckily for Arsenal Mr 40 goals already didn't bring his shooting boots. He's finished one on ones like that for fun all season yet he wasted two clear chances tonight. Taking Villa off was a poor choice from Guardiola. With him on the park Barca were very threatening, once he went off they only had to worry about Messi and they did that superbly. The Polish sounding lad at centre back for Arsenal was superb. He might be French however.
Arsenal have got to approach the away leg as if it's them that needs to score, not Barca. They need to get the first goal. If they don't I can't see them defending for 90 minutes in Barcelona. Despite what a few on here seem to be suggesting, Barca are genuinely in another league in terms of talent. Arsenal need to find another gear and well and truly take it to them if they are to win.
