I do agree....massive under achievement by the swimmers, maybe following the cyclists lead and having a dedicated centre to train in and live near will benefit them...if they ont want to do it then they lose their funding like the cyclists have to.

Also intresting to see that normal service has been resumed in the athletics and the excuses for Dai Green being trotted out...he simply wasnt good enough like the other events we didnt qualify in but wont be mentioned as they won 3 golds, which, with the amount of funding they get is a poor return.

Dai Green finished 5th in an Olympic final - oh the shame if it!!
You've got a real bee in your bonnet when it comes to athletics haven't you.

Athletics is a difficult one to be good at as a lot of it cannot be trained, it's either there or it isn't. Karani James impressed me the most out of the track athletes, a one in a million physique. The best track stars are black (Due to muscle types I would guess?), we probably have a significant disadvantage on that score alone. There really is no excuse for the lack of success in the pool however, as plenty of money is pumped into swimming and we should be able to produce the types of athletes you need for that.

It appears many of them haven't been able to cope with the expectation of a big home crowd. The major disappointment is the number who haven't even been close to their PBs.

Maybe a spell in the US collegiate system should be mandatory for our elite young swimmers?

That's a big advantage to the Yanks their college meets will be as noisy as the aquatic centre, obviously the intense competition as well breeds a competition mindset.

I was a bit narked when the majority of our swimmers climbed out of the pool and when interviewed seemed more thrilled about the support from the stands than breaking their p.b's, let alone a medal.

Having said that the Australians have had an horrendous Olympics in the pool and the Germans didn't even get a medal :o

Have to agree Claire Balding has been excellent, Gaby Logan hasn't done to too bad... like the jig she does when we celebrate a gold medal to that Spandau Ballet track :)

The worst by a country mile is Lineker...who's interviews are like watching Alan Partridge

Would add Richie Woodhall & Chris Boardman to the above for great input to their commentaries.

This bloody woman they have on the Triathlons is terrible!!!. She was bad enough on the womens at weekend. You'd have thought she'd have gone away and done a bit of research when she found out she'd got this gig!

Woodhall could be replaced by a loop track of him saying "he's got to work behind the jab". Never hear him say owt else, even though he may well be correct.

Yep 5 golds now that puts Yorkshire level with Germany on the gold medal stakes
Not bad for a bunch of northern monkies eh!!!
Perhaps if Boris the nutter gets his way and London taxes stay in London then Yorkshire medals should only be credited to Yorkshire.
