When football was the be all and end all in my life as a kid I remember seeing him in the youth and reserve teams at Bradford City and immediately you could tell he was a class act, when he came into the first team he'd take care of experienced 3rd division (as was) strikers with ease and it was clear he was destined for better things, it was unfortunate enough that injuries stopped him achieving his full potential and that he ended up having to retire but this news knocked me sideways this morning.
one of my best mates is a bantams season ticket holder (for his sins), remember him raving about Richards as he came through the ranks.
