And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Taking it to the extreme, could anyone argue with Tony Hibbert being selected ahead of Kelly? At least Hibbert finished the season in form and can play fullback and centre back.

 ..... I was just joking with my son about the chances of Hibbo getting a call up....At the present rate, he can't be far off being picked!!

On a serious note, you aren't far wrong though. The selections of Kelly and Henderson seem to indicate that Hodgson has been given the go-ahead to basically give up on this tournament (no bad thing, because, even with our best players available, we wouldn't have much of a chance).

You have to hope for Hodgson's sake though, that the press realise the reality of the situation, because this squad will struggle to get a single point from their group and you get the feeling they are waiting for the first opportunity to tear into the new boss.

This has Euro 1988 all over it and that side was far better than this present collection.

Kelly's a top player Saddened. Fast, strong, deceptively good cross and an aggressive defender. He'll make a class centre back eventually, whilst he's slotted in very well at right back despite it not being his natural position. As I said, he probably hasn't played enough centre half at club level to justify the selection, but he's played well for the U21s and he's never let us down.

I'll admit I don't like Liverpool. But I can see objectively when a player is playing well. It would be hard for you or any Liverpool fan to argue the case for Carroll, Downing, Henderson or Kelly being selected for England.

To be fair to Kelly, when I've seen him play, he looks a good player - a bit raw and headstrong, but definitely has potential.

I guess its just a sad indictment of the English game that he is being selected about 3 or 4 years before he is actually ready for international football, but that's not the lad's fault.

The other 3 players you mention though are complete dogshit, who really do emphasise how desperate we are.

Ha ha, just read about it now. It's nothing serious, the kind of thing you do when you are 9 and messing about with your mates.

The French seem to be taking it very seriously however.

So how would you feel if it was an Everton player who wiped their ass with the club shirt?

Evra does seem to be a complete Richard, but it still doesn't make Suarez innocent.

Micah Richards must feel a little silly now after the injury to Cahill. Fancy refusing to be put on the standby list. The Ferdinand situation is embarrassing for the whole of English soccer. Best of luck to the young lad, Kelly.

Ditto Michael Carrick when Henderson was picked.

It should have been dealt with at the same time as Suarez and Evra had theirs but because Terry is English the FA wouldn't want anything untoward to happen. It's also a shame Ferdinand hasn't been picked for Euro 2012 because of John Terry.
