Such a fight would probably raise significantly more interest and box office sales than two of the current gun-shy Heavyweight contenders.

The current state of the heavyweight division has opened up a market for these old men to provide us with a bit of nostalgia and entertainment.

This is just an extension of seniors tours in other sports such as golf and tennis. If the public weren't interested by the prospect, they wouldn't watch. The fact that a) the original post wasn’t posted in the Other Sports forum and b) it isn’t merged with the Boxing 2008 thread speaks volumes: either laziness on the mods part ( ) or this really is the biggest boxing news item for the mainstream.

Fo' sho! We have two. We had a small one to see what they we're like, see if they lived up to the hype. And we we're that impressed with it, we only went and bought another bigger one didn't we!

The fight would and is generating a lot of interest.

Think that somebody should stop Tyson from fighting though, because he could get seriously hurt. I doubt Tyson has ever recovered phsycologically from the 1st beating that Holyfield gave him and to do it again or even worse, could have grave consequences for a 40 year old plus Tyson.

Tyson, at his best, was easily in the top-ten heavy weights of all time but even then a young George Foreman would have anniahilated Tyson inside of 2 minutes. Time for Tyson to let go me thinks...

always makes me laugh, the certainty of opinion about a fight which is historically impossible. Yes, Tyson is small like Joe Frasier or Ken Norton but he was also quicker, hit harder and threw punches in combination much better than either of them... so there are many variables. :)

There renders your post as a joke.

And as regards a fight being "historically impossible", you are wrong. When Foreman regained the crown in the mid-nineties, he wanted to fight Tyson but Tyson's team would not even come to the table to conduct negotiatons as Tyson had privately told them he did not want to fight Foreman.

I'd still have a Foreman to win at that time though a lot of people would argue against that but as far as a young Foreman (such as the one who anniahalated Joe Frazier) against a young Tyson goes, Tyson would not last 2 mins.

It is historically impossible for a YOUNG George to fight Mike Tyson... jeez... you dont even know the contents of your own post.

As for my comment about Tyson being a harder hitter than Norton or Frazier..
