Is Morgan absolute rubbish against the short fast stuff? If not why isnt he considered for the test team? He just appears to be a natural.

When Pietersen first played in the ODI side it seemed to be taken as read that he was only a one day player. Are we making the same mistake with Morgan?

How good does that lad look?

I'm wondering about his test chances simply because it seems to have hardly ever been mentioned yet he looks our best player at the moment in one dayers. He can play shots all around the wicket(literally allround it and behind it) and can play both pace bowling and spin bowling.

He looks world class at the moment.

Morgan certainly played a superb innings today, practically won that game for us single-handedly.

Don't know too much about him as a player to comment on his test prospects, but maybe the selectors might have a self-imposed limit on playing foreigners?!!

I think Morgan averages mid thirties for Middlesex. It's very much a 'normal average' in county cricket, given the pitches, weather etc. You only have to look at the improvement in Trescothick once he hit the International Stage with better pitches, more time to practice etc.

I think he's certainly one that should be looked at for test cricket, we've spent far too long looking at the likes of Shah etc.

Averages only tell you half the story, would say, Owais Shah have played that innings today, would he 'eck. Morgan looks mentally tough, can bring out his best at key times, as he did in the T20 this year & last.

With Colly at five in the test team, which you'd think would suit Morgan, you'd probably have to re-jig a little, maybe Trott will be a little under threat as post Ashes innings, he hasn't backed up (yet)

It shouldn't be that hard to find a place in our test line up for a lad like Morgan because our battling line up has underpreformed for too long now but it actually is quite tough to work out how we could fit him in.

Cook and Strauss are safe as houses at the top of the order, Trott deserves longer at number 3 imo, KP will probably never be dropped and is still our best player when on form, Colly has had a fantastic last 12 months and Bell had a very good series in South Africa yet as a unit they still don't seem to get enough runs.

I think they may have missed a trick not selecting him for this test tour of Bangladesh. We're a batter down from that line up with Strauss missing and they could have just kept him on as back up. They've picked Carberry to replace Strauss and that seems sensible as he's an opener but this lad also needs a chance to show what he can do.

Is there a separate thread for the IPL? If not, it'll be screened by ITV4.

Sidebottom out of the test squad, replaced by Bresnan.

Broad out of the 3rd ODI, Steven Finn called up as cover to the test squad just in case.

Looking at Bresnan today i'm glad he's got his chance in the test squad. I was suprised he was left out of both the South African tour party aswell as this one so he gets a chance he deserves imo.

We really need to find an out and out pace bowler though. We've got so many guys that can bat, field and bowl at 85mph but we're desperate for a 90mph+ man and if we can find one from somewhere we'll have a very handy team in all forms.

Good first day today especially for Cook. Not quite sure what their captain was thinking of putting us in though.

Only dissapointment of the day was Pietersen not getting his 100. To get 99 though was a good effort and he played superbly well for it. He played nice and straight all innings until he got to 99 and for some reason went back to how he's played in the one day series and tried a daft flick.

He looked totally gutted.

He absolutely was. The gloves and the helmet went flying before he reached the dressing room and by all accounts the bat wasn't looking too healthy when he got there! Good knock though and exactly what he needed - some time at the crease.

Top knock from captain Cook and Chittagong has to be seen to be believed!!!!!
