Van Der Sar will be missed next season. Can't see many keepers keeping the shots out he has. Man U go up the other end and score 2 goals out of the 3 shots on goal they've had. Its been the story of Man U's season though, they've been very average yet are winning

The thing is with Rodwell, similar to how Rooney was, is that he has been lauded as the next big thing since he was 16....The difference being that Rooney was actually producing consistantly at both club and international level for a good while before his transfer.

Rodwell, however, is still massively inconsistant, his main problem being, in my opinion, that no one has yet sussed out what type of player he actually is....Many consider him a future centre half, Rio Ferdinand-style, whilst some have tried to compare him to Steven Gerrard, especially after that goal he scored last season against Man Utd.

From what I have read, United see him as a midfielder in their future side, which is fair enough, but if United fans think they are getting a Xavi, Iniesta or even a Paul Scholes for their £25m, then you are going to be left sadly disappointed.

Be better for the club. EFC have kicked on in a big way since Rooney left town. I'm thinking the same could happen after Rodwell departs.

I would love to see Rodwell play in a strong team. There have been moments for Everton where he has looked totally in control of the game and he's looked special. But then he's been dropped for a month after it or not played anywhere near as well.

The first time I saw Rodwell play I think he was 16 and he went up and won a header against a big, senior pro, took the loose ball and strode forward before rolling a great through ball. He's all class and is one of those players who looks like he's got so much more time than normal players and never seems flustered or under pressure.

But £25m for a guy who has never played consistently well in the Premier League?

Yes Van Der Sar made some great saves today but he was only doing the job he's employed to do, Almunia pulled off some amazing saves himself don't forget. Yes we're going to struggle to find a replacement but if what i read is true Van Der Sar is heavily involved with finding his replacement (i guess thats why were linked with everyone)

As for today
Defence = pretty solid, Smalling just keeps gettimhg better and better with each game he plays

Midfield = I said at work that Fabio could be more of a left wing player than a left back and today he proved that he can fill that role with ease, Valencia looked very sharp when he can on in the second half and will be a massive asset in the run in. As for Gibson he put a shift in but didn't create anything and O'Shea was one of three full backs in midfield

How many watch sunday supplement on here? The constant london love in is cringeworthy. Also King Kenny been offered a two year deal.

I certainly don't want to lose him, but from his own personal point of view, what is there to keep him at Everton?

19/20 year old, lauded all your short career as the next big thing, being left behind by the likes of Jack Wilshire??.....What do you do?

Stay at a skint, going nowhere football club, like Everton, or move to one of the leading lights in World football, where, over the years, many great young footballers have come through and made huge names for themselves?

Its a no-brainer and as much as I hate to say it, his agent will be making sure it goes through as we speak.
