But £25m for a guy who has never played consistently well in the Premier League?

My issues is exactly that £25m for a player who is very inconsistent seems crazy to me. I'd rather go into the european market, for the same money we could get some better options imo.

As for yesterday it was fantastic to see Valencia back, we have missed him so much and he will definately improve us especially when Nani plays on the other wing. Smalling looked good again and is definately getting better and better and the twins showed some great skill to go with their usual enthusiasm.

And it's crazy to judge Jack Rodwell this season too, but people still do. The lad got injured early season against Villa and was out until Christmas, he comes back and gets a few chances off the bench he then goes away with England U21's and picks up an injury - another few weeks out. This season Rodwell has spent many months injured and when he has been fit he's played in an extremely negative team for the most part, he's been starting a handful of games but mostly off the bench, he's been playing in a team that's spent most of the season fighting to stay above the bottom three and a team that's been very inconsistent. Jack Rodwell's a fantastic footballer and would be benefit to any side. He's very comfortable defensively and provides good cover to the back four and sits nicely at the top of a midfield, having said that he's superb going forward (just look at the goal he scored against you last season at Goodison!). I don't get this 'I'd rather we bought from Europe' idea that people always have, tbh, time and again players from Europe prove a waste of money, quite often they can't handle the Premiership, here you have a player that has played regularly in the PL and has had spells in Europe, he's been a regular for England U21, he's proved he has all the skills and attributes to be a star of the future - why spend £20 million plus on a player that may not make it or take 2 years to settle when you can have a player who is ready to slot straight in and has years of experience at this level already.

Well done to Chiles for his comment on Gerry Francis's hiar, and it was follwed by Neville calling someone 'a complete contrast'. The way he pronounced the first part of 'contrast' makes me think it might appear on youtube at some point.

Liverpool V United academy match showed the good will extends down the ranks, and there are more poop refs on the way through, finishing 9 aside and United coming back from 2 down to win 2-3, Morrison showing the good stuff he can do

Does anyone else think that may actually have been Piquionne's shoulder? I'm not as convinced as the commentary team it was a definite handball.

It's a tough one, I think it looks more to be the arm because of the way that he puts his arm out anyway. Might have been the top of the arm or the shoulder.

I wouldn't have been happy had it been against my team but I accept the officials only get one look at it.
