that's the basic problem with LFC - they really believe they are still a major force in european football, well those days are long gone at least for the moment and have been for many years

fortress Anfield is no more just like it was fortress Molyneux in the early 60s or fortress Elland Road in the 60s/70s - the mighty have fallen but will hopefully get back to where they belong

teams receiving LFC for their home games were in awe of such a dominant football force coming to town whereas nowadays and for a while the thought of LFC visiting now means a real chance of picking up 3 points rather than maybe scraping a home draw against the mighty Reds

I actually enjoyed the game against The Swans, very even to the neutral I think and certainly more entertaining than the Cheslsea - Citeh cr@p or the Villa - Gooners trash served in the other televised games

you talk about 'that season' - that's the problem you lot are living on past glories and not spending enough time worrying about NOW - no team has the divine rright to glory, it has to be earned and this current LFC crop is ordinary if you take out Suarez, Gerrard & Reina - you lot deserve better

Doesn't that contradict your whole post?

I think LFC are on the right track. It's a long one, but we'll move forward under Rodgers. Toothless is the best way to describe us, we're brilliant at controlling the game but once we get to the attacking third we're either wasteful or clueless. Think it will come in time. LFC fans know where we are, we may have a chance of a cup run but we're not going to set the world alight in the league until we get some strength in depth going forward.

You've clearly not watched much of Everton's matches this season. We've passed almost all the sides we've played to death, including passing Swansea off the park. Some of the moves down Everton's left in particular over the last 12 months have been very impressive. Martin Jol compared us to Barcelona after the game against Fulham.

Everton are very impressive this season, in everything bar the killer instinct to kill games off. We've had more shots than any team in Europe (Including Barcelona) and create more clear chances than any team in the Premier League. Most of Everton's games this season have been very entertaining. We've got Baines and Pienaar bombing down the left and Coleman and Mirallas down the right, far more entertaining than watching Liverpool trying to force the ball through to Suarez or giving it to Sterling and praying he can do something.

Indeed, I don't think Barcalona exist.

It's a matter of preference, but I'd sooner watch two sides trying to outplay each other, than play like Everton and pump the ball in the box from every set piece relentlessly. Today I felt like both sides actually defended really well, we probably should have scored a couple of goals but the defence seemed to win. Liverpool are obviously toothless, our lack of firepower has lead to us being reliant on two teenagers and Suarez to provide the firepower, but I'd sooner watch today's game against Swansea for 24 hours straight than watch Stoke or West Ham play.

..you don't half spout some crap when defending your club.

So Torres didn't score even with Benitez in charge....I thought he couldn;t score unless Rafa was in the dugout???

How much of Liverpool have you watched this season? More than Roddy? Less than Roddy?

He can't score if he's hiding behind defenders when we're breaking.

TBH I was done with Torres last week. He was so awful he pretty much lost the last of his remaining support. Only the injury to Sturridge and now the arrival of Benitez have given him another reprieve.

The rumour going round is that LFC kept the extent of his knee injury from him to keep him playing. He also rushed himself back to play in the World Cup. LFC didn't think he'd pass his medical, CFC didn't perform a full medical so the deal went through.

Madrid was an excellent performance. Man Utd was very good, but the scoreline was helped by Vidic being sent off.

I wouldn't go as far as stupendous. It was the best you've been in that time frame, and even a better side than Everton currently are, I'm just talking about how entertaining to watch a team are. The team that year (like most of Benitez's reign IMO) played good stuff at home, but largely set up defensively away. This is actually a lot like Everton have been in previous seasons. This year, though, Everton are just going at teams whoever and wherever they are a lot more, which provides open, attacking football matches that are good to watch. Clinging desperately to the claim that Everton are only about set plays just portrays you as either ignorant or bitter, or perhaps both. You would appear a lot less biased if you could ever concede/acknowledge when teams/players/managers do things that go against your preconceived notions (even if they are temporary).

Also beat Madrid at the Bernabeu that season. One Yossi Benayoun.
