so excited for tonight what a game its going to be cant wait bet the atmosphere gonna be buzzing cant wait get in away end and watch it live gonna be immense. I'm going for a 2-1 win on the night for city 4-2 overall

Good to see a bit of positivity. I thought we would get beat at Scunthorpe, so you can imagine my mindset in the build-up to the game.

Regardless of the result, I think it's good to see that the Carling Cup has attracted a lot of interest this season. The viewing figures for the first-leg between City and United had a viewing audience of over 8m, while last years FA Cup final attracted about 2m less viewers. And that was a final that included the People's Club (C).

Another positive is that some teams are beginning to take this trophy seriously. United appear to be more determined to win this trophy than at any other time in the last 20 years. So much so, they played all their big guns at City. First time I can remember Ferguson doing that in any domestic competition game (with the exception of finals). I can only imagine that he sees this as United's best, and most realistic hope of silverware this season.

Hopefully thats something he can earn at United. I agree what you say r.e giddyness regarding players. It doesn't say much for the current defenders coming through.

By Monday?

He was world class yesterday, now we just need to wait for Arsene to "meet him" ala Ramsay and get the lad to sign for Arsenal.

I'll take someone that can defend and head the ball ATM, have you seen Brown and Evans attempt that lately? Plus, their distribution is woeful too.

Cathcart has been poor at Watford, there is no way he is gunna make it at United. I think he'll primarily be used as a back-up to start with, Rio + one (hopefully a new signing) will be our main CB pairing, with Evans and Smalling as cover.

The Carling Cup needed that sort of coverage, the Beeb getting one leg of each semi has certainly helped that. I can't say earlier rounds have attracted the same attention.

The more realistic reason is that we're playing you. There's no way does Fergie want you to get to a Final, which you'd more than likely win, because he played a weakened side. There's no way we'd let it. Defeat to Leeds was a blessing in disguise.

Plus, we all know that the Carling Cup is football's premier cup competition.

Have you watched Kolo Toure? He's terrible.

I know it is, fella. I just wanted a United fan to confirm that Fergie is bitter and obsessed about City :)

That's one of the good things about Fergie, he's almost 70 but is as childish as ever.
