I'll be backing Latics to stay up again. With Swansea, Norwich and QPR (no decent signings yet and losing their best player) in the Premier League next season Latics will be fine.

General consensus amongst Liverpool fans seems to be that Downing would be a poor buy. I blame Commoli - they should let King Kenny pick this one like they did with Suarez.

To be fair, from what I've seen on here and other places, some of them aren't the best judges by any stretch of the imagination. Remember how bad some said Lucas was/is? Half of them seem to be ruled by the stats in the latest FM game and wouldn't know a decent player if he kicked them in the goolies as they don't appreciate what a certain player brings to the team and how they are asked to play for said team.

Wasn't Downing Villa's player of the year last year?

Downing was indeed if I recall.

Downing is a quality player, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
