The question has probably been asked a few times in these betting threads but I can't see it anywhere.

How does lay betting work?

Say Man Utd are 1.45 to lay, what are the winnings if they don't off a tenner? I think I understand the bit that I'd lose £14.50 if they did win?

If they didnt win you'd get roughly £5 profit.
