I must say, i've been impressed with City's handling of the situation. They've granted Tevez's wish and, if Aguero signs, gone out and bought an upgrade for the same price. I would find it even better if Aguero signs, no-one buys Tevez and Mancini sends him out with the reserves which is what he deserves.
I don’t think he is an upgrade. I would like to think he is but I cannot see him being as effective this coming season than Tevez was in 2010/11. Aguero may end up the better player but if it wasn’t for the baggage, I would prefer to retain Tevez.
Corinthians have stated they are interested in signing Tevez at the start of 2012. If that means Tevez stays with City for a few months, thus allowing us to slowly introduce Aguero, then that would be ideal. However, I cannot see him being here from September onwards. He needs/wants to go. I don’t have an issue with that. I don’t expect players to show the same loyalty as fans.
However, I do think he was out of order on a number of occasions – e.g. showing disrespect towards Mancini after being substituted and handing in a transfer request in December.
I see that Joorabchian is now subtley changing the tone of his language and is also now making it look like City are forcing Tevez out because we are bringing in Aguero. So the rumours about Tevez wanting his ‘loyalty bonus’ wasn’t nonsense. Expecting a loyalty bonus after handing in two transfer requests in the past year? Not to mention that Joorabchian has said Tevez knocked back an offer of a wage increase as he wanted to leave so much. Be interesting to see who wins that case.
