This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:41 am
Season one completed in my Bradford game, six points clear at the top of League Two.

Trying to throw together a squad now for an assault on League One, got Phil Jones from Blackburn and Michael Potts from Man Utd back on loan again for another season after they did well for me last year. James Wallace and Cody Arnoux come in on frees from Everton.

First round of the League Cup has me at home to Huddersfield - how bothered am I by winning a local derby that I might want to rest a few players from the opening league game at Millwall the Saturday before? :D

FM2011 is shaping up to be very promising http://www.footballmanager.com/index.php?p=games

A number of great improvements and new features plus there are more to be announced yet.

I like the sound of the improvements, can't wait for it.

Especially the league being able to attract better players and gaining a better reputation.

That is one of the annoying things in my Sporting game. I can attract fairly good players to Portugal, such as Countinho etc and have dominated the Portuguese league for ten seasons, reaching the final of the Europa cup, CL semi's etc, yet if a mediocre team from Italy or Spain comes after one of my players, they will get upset til I let them go to that league despite currently having far better team mates and a CL campaign to look forward to.

Anyone any good with the editor?

If so, please help me as I'm tearing my hair out.

Updated loads of recent transfers and manager changes. Still got the 'config' file, and saved as my data a new file called 'mydata.xml'.

However, when I start a new game I don't get anything offering me the chance to change database, and the tab saying 'select editor data files' is greyed out. Therefore, if I start a game all of the original data is still what comes up.

I am playing the original game, no patches as far as I remember, installed through the disc, not steam.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:07 am
I'm stuck at the minute, there seems to be a massive difference in game play between 09 and 10.

I tried managing Farsley Celtic in Blue Square North but resigned after 10 or so games, I cannot seem to get the right formations/players/tactics. Then I joined Alfrington in Blue Square North, and I seemed to draw 10 or so games in a row.. it's ridiculous. Any tips? The advisers aren't helping, they seem to conflict each other.

Started another season at Bradford. Bit ropey to begin with but players seem to have bedded in now. Sat in 5th on a 4 game winning run, having scored at least 4 in each of those games (scored 31 conceded 21 in 10 games!!) using a basic 4-4-2. Anton Jongsma, Dene Shields (13 league goals), Aaron Doran and Arassen Ragaven are the star men so far.

Conceded 21 in 10 games?

Only conceded 28 in my promotion season in 46 games - my first priority on FM at any new club is to get the keeper and back four sorted :D

Not really a big editor user. Would recommend the SI website forums. They've a big section on editors. But as far as I rememeber, SI never include Save Game editors but instead provide a database editor for editing before you start your game.

Yep, pretty poor stuff. Thankfully I score plenty of goals, 76 in 32 games now. Coming to the business end of the season so I think I'm going to have to try and shore it up a bit now, don't know how though! The players are there, just not the system. Might have to reign in one of my midfielders and see what happens for a start.
