Former pro footballer makes you know nationally.

I always go for sunday league, makes it more challenging, and even more deserved when a big club tries to poach you. After masterminding Stirling to an easy title win in Scottish Division 2, QPR came in for me, but I turned them down.

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Fri Sep 24, 2010 12:13 pm
Started a new game last night as Liverpool, I usually do rubbish with the 'big' clubs but I thought I'd give it another go. I put my past experience as Automatic, I had a 2.5m budget so I didn't buy or sell anyone for my first season.

I kept Gerrard and Torres fit for the most of the season, which was the key, and Riena played in every game bar the last game of the season.

I got the League Cup final and lost 4-2 against Arsenal. Arsenal knocked me out of the FA Cup in the 5th round. I got the Semi Final of the Champions League but lost 3-0 on agg v Barcelona. So not bad going reached all the boards expectations.

In the league, it was nip and tuck all the way through between United, ourselves and Arsenal. Going into the last 3 games, United were 3 points ahead of me and 5 ahead of Arsenal. I had left to play United (h), Wigan (a) and Blackburn (h).

I had the better GD so figured if I beat United I could gain 6 points from my last two games. I beat United 4-2 with a Torres hattrick, but drew both games against Wigan and Blackburn, United won their last two games. Gutted.

Signed Fabio Quagliarella for 12mil which has taken up my 15mil budget. Just on the look out for a pacey centre back and i'll be set to go. Signed Danny Simpson and Ryan Bertrand on free from United and Chelsea, i'm looking forward to developing those two.

From Hull and now trying to spread the RL word in Liverpool, and failing dismally.

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Sat Sep 25, 2010 11:49 pm
Finished my first season at Celtic and finished second, well behind Rangers. Towards the end of the season I had problems with players being over confident and complacent and no matter how times I said that I expected a win or expected a performance the same few players didn't change, that may be why there were a few times in the last few games where I squandered two goal leads and ended up drawing or losing. I also had players who wanted to leave and my assistant manager kept telling me that they looked distracted so I didn't play them.

Just downloaded the demo to give me and idea of what it is like and whether to buy FM2011 and I'm finding it hard to get into, which is unusual ad I enjoy manager games.

Can you not speed up paly any quicker or simulate games, I've got the match speed bar at the top and it isn't very fast. Also why when you go to sign a player on loan another club always comes in and steels him.

Any reccomendations on which teams to be and low priced good players? I was Leeds United.

Should be fairly fast.

Do you have an old computer or have you loaded up a power-sapping amount of leagues etc.

How the values work on this game pisses me off.

Done the Balotelli to Man City transfer and at the end of the first season he had barely played a game, had spat his dummy out and wanted to leave.

Managed to get him to come to Newcastle for £17.5m + sell on %.

He was the top assist maker for me, won the PL top goalscorer with 25 goals (2nd in the European Golden Boot) and also won the PL Young Player of the Year award.

Don't know whether it is because of our reputation or because we only finished mid-table, but his value is only £7m at the end of the season.

Teams have come in to try and get him with paltry bids of 12m or so, which would be idiotic for me to take a loss on a player that has significantly improved since coming to the club.

Balotelli is now angry I've turned down these clubs - clubs like Ajax and Everton, not Barcelonas or Man Uniteds.

Unless I get a good profit on him, he is going nowhere.

Everton have a squad with less quality than ours, Ajax play in a fairly poor league.

Sold Balotelli, Rafinha, and Ben Arfa, all had thrown toys out of pram and had their heads turned.

Got a squad I'm happy with and after Europe this season.

When you're a Bradford fan there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately it's usually an oncoming train
