Re: Football Manager 2010 : Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:42 pm
Could be worse, playing on my Newcastle game on FM10 due to not having the new one.

Finished 2nd in the champship, then 11th in the Prem, 4th in the Prem, then won it, finished 3rd last year.

Pretty much the same settled squad, only one addition to the first team plus a couple of squad players.

Absolutely terrible run of form, defence getting carved open from all angles, strikers couldn't hit a cows backside despite both first choice strikers having awesome records past few years (Pablo Mouch got 27 in 29 league games last year, won European golden boot, and Oscar Cardozo got 12 in 14 with Andy Carroll and Yannis Tafer chipping a few in, as well Ramires from midfield). Past two years we have bullied teams at home, been after them like terriers and attacking as a unit.

Midfield and strikers not even playing half as good as last season. Wasteful and no ideas. Pretty much all the squad think we are underachieving and no harmony. Well whos fault is that? All I have changed from last season to this is the sale of a couple of fringe players i.e. Guthrie, Fatic and brought in a top centre half (Benedikt Howedes from Schalke) - no changes to tactics, training, coaching staff, way I do team talks/media or anything else.

Sitting in tenth in mid november, crash dump during a game and don't think I'd saved it for about 5 hours. maybe a lucky escape?

Might carry on with my ICT season tonight.

To those who have FM11 - is it worth buying?

Yep, it's fantastic.

Started a new game with Liverpool trying a disciplined 4-4-2 with a solid line of 4 at the back at all times, lost 2 games one to WBA and one to Bolton, won every other game...typical Liverpool losing to them 2 eh  Torres has managed 4 games in between injuries and Joe Cole broke his leg pre season.

At the minute, i'd probably say not really, no.

I'm struggling to get into it, and apart from a few minor changes, i can't see any big differences between FM11 and FM10. Saying that, i said that when i first got FM10, but then eventually i pick a team and i really enjoy it but at the minute i'm struggling to stick with a team and enjoy it, keep swapping and changing and can't get into one specific game. It's also not down to me doing bad, because i've found it quite easy so far, winning the majority of games. A few posts earlier i started a game with Tottenham, but i can't get inot it. i'll have another go tomorrow.

It's the usual new FM game. It just takes a bit of getting use to but it's deffo worth it as it's a great improvement over 2010

I didn't bother getting 2010 so will probably get 2011. It will be tough to say goodbye to my AFC Wimbledon team though! I'm in the Championship and gone hrough financial hardships, lost playoff finals on penalties, 6-0 drubbings by Shrewsbury and 4 succesful promotion campaigns. Might carry on up unitl Christmas and see how far we can go. It'll give the missus somethng to put in my stocking!

This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Wed Nov 10, 2010 1:07 pm
Unbeaten in the first 14 games in the Championship in my Bradford City game - 7 wins, 7 draws.

Out of the League Cup after a hiding at Villa where I played virtually a reserve team.

The players I've brought in on loan during the off-season - Kevin McCann from Wigan, Jorge from Man Utd, Marko Mitrovic from Chelsea - have all settled in well and together with a few other bargain signings and a big money splash on Mark O'Brien from Derby I'm not looking as out of my depth at this level as I thought I would be.

For those who have gone for FM2011 - how does it look on the bug front, given that previous years have needed at least one if not two patches to sort out some glaring issues?

The only thing I can see in mine which could be a bug is about 90% of my penalties have gone wide or been saved.

Other then that, it's quite polished after just 1 patch.

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Wed Nov 10, 2010 4:29 pm
If we're keeping this as the FM2011 thread too, I'll post here.

Started a season as Liverpool (As per), and was given a £34.5m budget to challenge for the title. Signed quite a few young players for the future and made a few more too. Here's my current squad:

GK: Reina

LB: Capdevilla (£2.3m)
CB: Carragher
CB: Agger
RB: Johnson

LM: Afellay (£8.75m)
CM: Gerrard
CM: Jonathan Dos Santos (£3.9m)
RM: Cole

CF: Torres
CF: Jovanovic

SUBS:
GK: Jones
CB: Skrtel
LB/LM: Aurelio
CM: Poulsen
CM: Mereiles
AM/ST: Pacheco
CF: Tavano (£1.3m)

After 7 games I have 16 points and am 3rd in the league, 1 point behind Arsenal and Wolves.

One strange thing though, Danny Wilson complained about not getting first team football, so I started him and he played well so kept him for 3 games, and then before the 4th he handed in a transfer request, saying I hadn't fulfilled my promises. Considering he's just signed too, I decided to accept the request and just keep him on the bench because his morale is very poor...
