Re: Football Manager 2010 : Wed Nov 10, 2010 5:12 pm
I spent a bit more money with Liverpool and have a starting lineup of:

GK: Reina
LB: Konchesky
CB: Carragher
CB: Agger
RB: Johnson
LM: Jovanovic
CM: Gerrard
CM: Poulson
RM: Maxi Rodriguez
ST: N'Gog
ST: Torres

Joe Cole broke his leg so out for 6 months, signed a young Brazilian centre half/right back called Fernandes, Aron Gunnarsson as well as Vaclav Kadlec and Peter Utaka (bargain at 2.5m).

5th in the league coming up to Christmas, just 3 losses so far and unbeaten in Europe. N'Gog is the top scorer (Torres has played 7 games).

Apparently there is a bug in the Spanish league, where instead of yellow cards leading to a suspension after 5 cards, after a player picks up two cards he is suspended next match.

Don't know if its true though, just seen it being discussed on a FM forum.

Unbeaten in the first 14 games in the Championship in my Bradford City game - 7 wins, 7 draws.

Out of the League Cup after a hiding at Villa where I played virtually a reserve team.

The players I've brought in on loan during the off-season - Kevin McCann from Wigan, Jorge from Man Utd, Marko Mitrovic from Chelsea - have all settled in well and together with a few other bargain signings and a big money splash on Mark O'Brien from Derby I'm not looking as out of my depth at this level as I thought I would be.

For those who have gone for FM2011 - how does it look on the bug front, given that previous years have needed at least one if not two patches to sort out some glaring issues?

What season are you in? I'm in season 5 now in the Championship with Bradford. After losing my first 4 (maybe 5) games I've recovered to sit 10th after about 20 games now. This coincided with me signing Marcos from Man Utd for some much needed firepower up front.

Like you I'll be holding fire on FM2011. Especially as it's usually around November time I have my best game on the old version every year

The only thing I can see in mine which could be a bug is about 90% of my penalties have gone wide or been saved.

Other then that, it's quite polished after just 1 patch.

Maybe you should change your penalty taker?

Torres, Gerrard, Poulsen and Meireles have all had a go and all have missed at least 2 each :o and with Leeds Becchio, Somma and Howson all missed pens.

The second patch downloaded on mine today, but when I tried to start a new season, only one patch appeared on the list of patches. Is the other one just a gameplay patch that works regardless of database?

The version number just increments so you should be on version 11.1.1 now.

If it's the same as older FMs, there should be a version number somewhere on the menu screen which will tell you whether the patch has worked?

TBH i would probably wait till December when the second patch comes out before buying it.

There are some problems with the Transfer system and penalties atm. A lot of big named players are going cheap and other FM users are finding it hard to sell players. I've only had 2 players to sell as others were either out of contract or fit nicely into my reserve team. Jon mclaughlin went for a few thousand and a guy called Lavie went for 250k. But i've found it very easy to sign players without any competition. Dean Gerken (bristol city), Woods(chelsea), Isiah Osbourne (aston Villa), Shaleum Logan and Ben Mee (man city), Kyle Bartley and Harvard Nordvelt(Aresnal). All free signings as they were out of contract :D Plus they came on pretty cheap contracts 3-5k due to slinging some extra money at the agents :D

I'm Bradford in League 1 now and the game has got slightly harder imo. Instead of walking League 2 like normal it went down to the last day with a 3 club tussle between Bradford, Gillingham and Rotherham. I came out number one and really enjoyed it. I might try offering one of my top players to other clubs just to test if my transfer system is buggered.
