Quick Question...Does Football Manager 11 work on a notebook?

I fancy getting it for when I have a break at Uni but my notebook doesn't have a disk drive (but presumably I could get it via Steam? or do you need the disk?)

Yeah you can digitally download it from a variety of sources (Eg game) not just Steam and you don't need a disc.

I've posted a reply on the will it run question in the games forum on the sinbin. Basic answer is yes, but dependant on specs obviously.

When you're a Bradford fan there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately it's usually an oncoming train

Re: The Football Manager Thread : Wed Jan 26, 2011 6:43 pm
I want to get started on FM11. However, I can't break myself away from my FM10 game.

Got Bradford City up to the Premiership and have kept them there for the last 4 seasons. I've also won the League Cup in that time and average a top 10 finish.

This season I'm up to 4th with 10 games to play and am in the 2nd Knockout Round of the UEFA Cup.

Why would I quit?

Maybe stating the obvious here, but you don't only look at a players penalty stat when deciding who to take them, others such as composure, influence, finishing and age all have an influence. Also, make sure you have a long list of takers and at least one of them is on the pitch before every game.

I'd say it was quite easy, my players have scored 7/7 this season.

Need to fiddle with my formation for the Blues (Everton) - you might have just solved an issue for me. :thumb:

I'm playing as Everton also. I use two formations: One a 4-3-1-2 and one a basic 4-4-2. So far I have finished 5th (6th was my goal), 2nd (6th was goal again) and 4th (Title Challenge was my goal), 6 points off 1st. Won the Carling Cup against Liverpool in Season 3, as well as getting knocked out of the Champions League Quarters by the eventual winners, Bayern. Board are unhappy with me even though I have had the best defence in the last 2 seasons of league football, I am working towards having 5 star coaches (currently 4 stars in each area) and the club is turning a profit. I am mainly spending money of youngsters and then shipping them out on loan. Currently 5 games into season 4 and top of the league, yet to concede a goal. Fingers crossed I can finally win the league.

I'd say my strongest side at the moment is:

Howard

Onouha
Jagielka (c)
J. Boateng
Baines

Arteta
Rodwell
T. Cairney (this guy just runs midfield for me)

L. Suarez

Lewandowski
Kadlec

Subs from:

A. Smithies
R. Bertrand
M. Mancienne
Van der Vaart
Lukaku (sadly, only on loan)
Lucas (19yo Brazilian, not the LFC clown)
B. Sahar
S. Pienaar
M. Fellaini
F. Rizcon
R. Barclay
T. Cahill

Oh, I was also given the England job at the end of season 2, after Capello resigned. Currently played 7 of the World Cup qualifiers, winning 6 and drawing one (Russia away), conceeding 2 goals and scoring 18.

Re: The Football Manager Thread : Sat Feb 12, 2011 9:32 pm
Started a new game as Blackburn, sold off some dead weight + Morten Gamst Pedersen, that along with a couple *slightly cheeky* transfers meant i've currently got a lineup of

Robinson

Emerton
P. Jones / P. Cannavaro
Samba
Olsson

Ninis
Jenas
Romiric
Hazard

Neymar
Lukaku

Bunn
Cannavaro / Jones
Nelsen
Lallana
Vyntra
Kalinic
MB Diouf

Took over Man Utd in order to sell Samba at the end of the season for 27.5 Million, he was desperate to go, and we agreed the fee but it got cancelled due to transfer budget reasons, and I was desperate to seal the deal. Since Fergie "retired", Phelan took over, and got sacked a couple months later, so McGuinness is now head honcho there.

End of the season sees me brining in Smithies, Sakho, Subotic, Defour, and a couple others, while Emerton, Nelsen and Romiric are all off.

Start of April now, im in 10th and in the FA cup semi, having knocked out Man Utd in Phelan's final game as manager in the 5th round replay. Also beat them once in the league, as well as getting one over Man City and Chelsea, all of those came away from home!
