This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC

Re: County Cricket 2010 : Wed Sep 15, 2010 11:25 am
Somerset's title now I reckon.

Chances of results for Yorkshire or Notts fading with every passing hour spent off the field, while they are about to pass 350 and take their lead to five points.

In a weird way could this rain actually HELP Notts?? If it comes down to a one-innings game at OT I know who I'd back.
Yorkshire have plenty to do against Kent and could end up having to set Kent an achievable target in order to get a result.
And if Somerset carry on batting too much longer, taking time out of the game at Durham and with rain forecast for this afternoon, could they end up drawing with Durham blocking it out?
The fact that the Yorkshire and Somerset games are advanced rules out them being 1 innings games but not so at OT.

Kent need to win to stay up don't they? In this case if we get on and manage to bowl them out it will make sense for the captains to come to some kind of agreement for us to set them a 4th innings target.

Very convenient that Kent just made it to 300 with an unlikely last wicket stand of 41, the extra bonus point means that they can still overhaul Warwickshire by winning this game, and therefore it might still be in both sides interests to somehow try and force a result tomorrow, if possible.

Another delayed start at OT due to the overnight rain but the umpires are inspecting again at 11 and they should be on by 11:30 if there’s no more rain. I’ve been waiting all week to watch my final bit of county cricket at OT for 19 months so I’ll be driving over there today no matter what to see what nefarious skulduggery Chilly and Read concoct. I don’t expect Notts to win whatever they contrive.

It could be a frustrating day for Somerset at Durham if they can’t take the 8 wickets in good time, especially since they have to bugger off to the airport 45 minutes early to catch their flight to Lord’s for the CB40 final. What a farce that could be if they’re embroiled in a crucial run-chase!

I honestly have no idea what will happen at Headingley. If they play a straight game then you can only see a draw, but if they agree on a total and chase it could be very interesting. With doomed Kent batting last, it could all come down to how much pride they’ve got to go for the win without batting too brashly. Yorkshire’s seam attack and Rashid could see them home though.

It’s a pity that the weather has ruined this last round of games, but at least with one day to go, there’s still some genuine excitement over who wins one of the best county seasons in many a long year.

Anyone but Yorkshire, please.

Yorkshire making a right balls of it at the moment.

99/5 only a lead of 58.

Might be a good thing, if we get bowled out cheapish maybe leaving them 150 to get then we might be able to skittle them out in the chase? We need min 200 from this second inngs.

Scatch that 123-8 wicket is spinning now. Current lead is 82, need another 50 at least.

Bugger! 150 would have been interesting. Oh well unless rashid produces his best ever spell the title has gone. Been a good year though and Ashraf looks a find.
