Gutted for Becks, would have a cast iron certainty for the WC squad. England's chances are weaker with him not in the squad. It's okay having pace and beating a man but for me it's all about delivery and nobody is better than Beckham.

Agreed its a shame for Beckham and even more so because surely thats the end of his England career if not worse !?!

Is Beckham a good player or something? Have I missed alot of his games? I thought he was an old cart horse that had done f-ck all for years?

Beckham has always suffered from roughly equal measures of excessive praise and excessive criticism. He's never been as good as some make out, he's never been as bad, or as responsible for England's failings, as others seem to believe.

I would have taken him to the WC because of the variety that he provides, but his non appearance shouldnt be a huge factor. He may have provided experience in the dressing room but that could easily have been offset by the circus that inevitably surrounds him.

I've always thought him to be a genuinely nice bloke, so I've a great deal of sympathy for him this morning.

Yeah I'm gutted for him too, as I would with any player trying to make the squad. But he really isn't needed. We have far better players that play his position.
