I found CM 93/94 is freely available for download and have been playing that to pass the time on bus journeys, and the odd boring night.

There was something about the simplicity of it that makes it so much better than the newer versions.

Now, if only I could turn the clock back 15 years and remember my killer tactic!!

Just sign Lee Power. He used to notch for fun!

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Thu Dec 17, 2009 12:39 pm
I got Bradford firmly into the Championship. Made some cracking free signings and broke the transfer record.

Hakora(sp?) a finish right winger signed on a Free
Mobido Diakite French/Ivory coast defender on a Free
Calum Davenport on a Free
Andy Reid on Free (took a massive wage reduction, which i was surprised about)
Gary Hooper 2.8mil (got 21 goals for scunthorpe and is currently on 17 this season for me)
Micheal Tonge Can't remember how much i paid but he has been brilliant

Currently nearing the end of the season and I’m in a battle with 5 teams for the 6th and 7th. Strangely my defenders keep going down like flies and then when one is near return another gets injured. Maybe coincidence or the computer is a cheating barsteward that wants to see me field a team of kids and midfielders in defence :D Getting drummed by Wolves 4-2 after 3 of my defenders were taken off injured was rubbing salt into the wound. 6 defenders are now laid up, but 2 should be back in 2 games.

Not sure if there's anything i can do to stop these strains and twists occurring. They happen home and away plus my physios are pretty good.

I'll getting FM2010 for Christmas, and will take over as Wigan. I can't wait !
Any hints on bargain premiership-standard or transfer listed players and free agents ?

Rule 1. I am always right.
Rule 2. If in any case I appear wrong, refer to rule 1.

Managing Man City as I left Leeds for them. Won the Premiership 3 years in a row and the Champions league twice as well as an F.A cup and 2 League cup victories. It is now too easy as i have Ronaldo, Kaka, Villa and messi etc in the same team. Think I may start a new game with a BSP league team for a real challenge!

Managing Crewe at the moment.

Thought I'd missed out on my chance of promotion after just finishing 4th but went through the playoffs and won 6 - 0 at Wembley.

I completely took apart the squad I started with and brought in a lot of free transfers and bargain buys. Through selling players and adjusting my wage budget I got more transfer budget and was able to spend £250,000 on a strike partner in the closing stages of the season for my excellent free transfer top scorer Willy Topp (think he ended on nearly 40 goals).

Now in League 1 and again I've just raided the free transfer market, I'm off work now until Tuesday so will get a bit more time on FM2010.

When I finally got some loan players to join me I found the loan market fantastic, much better than FM2009. Signed Matt James and Rodrigo Possebon from Man Utd and Mark Randall from Arsenal for Bradford, who were all fantastic, before I was scandalously sacked for having a slow start to the season in League 1. Now at Luton in L2 but will probably miss out on the Play Offs this year as the squad needed a mid-season overhaul.

Ebi Smolarek is available on a free at the start. There are a few decent players at the Eastern European sides available on approach to signs pretty much from the off, not sure how many of the better ones will go to Wigan, though.

Get looking on the FM Community on the SI forums, there's loads of help on there.

I've just won the European Cup with Genoa after finishing 1st in Serie A in my 3rd season. Team is roughly Akinfeev; Potenza, Sakho, Papastathopolous, Criscito; Busquets, Marin, Montolivo, Gourcuff; Neymar, Derdiyok.

Subs from: Esposito, Sandro, Palladino, Zapater, Palacio and some more.

Sakho is by far the best defender in the game, he is France Captain at 23 and awesome - got him for £12 million at start of 2011 season and has proved a bargain!
