If you really want to make an impact, for the next live Sky game arrange a boycott of the game and watch it on TV instead. If there were 20,000 empty seats for the game it would make a far bigger impact than wearing gay scarves and flying daft banners.

The Glazers are primarily interested in ££££££££££. The protests need to make sure that they know that you're willing to hurt them financially if they stay at the club. Wearing LUHG colours, badges and scarves might give you a giddy feeling inside, but it won't bother them at all if you're still filling OT every week.

If you want to protest, make it a real one.

I have no problem accepting strikers missing sitters. The slightest deviation of the ball from the wind or a bounce can mean the difference between a goal and an embarrassing miss.

But 'keepers who get beat from inside their own half need a bullet in the head.

The green/gold itself isn't going to do anything except highlight fans' discontent, and show unity amongst fans. If they weren't bothered about the green/gold though, they wouldn't be getting their CES guys to unlawfully kick supporters out of the ground, unlawfully confiscate the banners, make false claims about colour schemes in the San Siro, or even sack members of staff, for simply wearing green/gold.

The Glazer's are rattled. That's for sure.

That's an impossible thing though. However, for the AC Milan home game, there are quite sufficient plans to stand out for the first 10 minutes. A great visible impact, and possibly a logistical impact, as I believe the kick off would have to be delayed with mass numbers of fans outside the ground. This is a more realistic and achievable protest than a full match boycott.

It's embarrassing for them though. Boycotts of match day catering are already underway, with word spreading to more and more people. Same with the Megastore. Unfortunately, with a club like United, there are plenty of day trippers who will buy up unsold tickets and splash the cash in the Megastore. More needs to be done I know, but the green/gold campaign is certainly getting the message across, and slowly, people are beginning to boycott none-ticket aspects of United.

Just give it a couple of weeks when they confirm the 2010/2011 ticket prices, with an expected increase of 11%. We'll see more protests then, that's a given.

TBH I wouldn't have thought any of these decisions would be made by the Glazers. Have they even been over here when these incidents happened?

As for the Milan colour schemes. If the club really wanted to derail your protests, they wouldn't have put those details on the website at all. They'd have let the supporters travel to the ground without a thought and the supporters would have just had all their banners taken away because they weren't authorised.

IMO that is scraping the barrell searching for proof that the Glazers are worried. As is the claim that green/gold have been your colours since ~AD 1885. If it wasn't for the protest, roughly 3 people would be wearing green/gold. Green/gold aren't MUFC club colours, they are simply the colours of your protest.

That's an impossible thing though.

It's not impossible at all. It's not even that difficult. It just takes the sacrifice of missing a live game at the stadium.

However, for the AC Milan home game, there are quite sufficient plans to stand out for the first 10 minutes. A great visible impact, and possibly a logistical impact, as I believe the kick off would have to be delayed with mass numbers of fans outside the ground. If there's a huge traffic delay which means thousands are outside the ground then the kick off will be delayed on HS grounds. But if thousands of people are outside the ground because they're throwing their dummies out over Glazer, I don't think they'll be delaying the kick off.

That may be a part of the protest, to have the game start with loads of people outside. But just think how stupid those fans will feel if Rooney knocks in a great goal while they're fannying about outside.

Yeah, embarrassing them is going to force them out, isn't it? Maybe you should have had some violent protests outside the stadium when they took over and threatened them so much that they'd never set foot in the ground? Oh yeah, you did that, and they ignored it and carried on as they wished.

IMO the reason that mass boycotts won't work is because very few supporters care enough about the situation to miss a game. If it comes to wearing green and gold, thousands, maybe tens of thousands will wear it. But it's a nothing gesture.

If there was a mass boycott of the ground, tens of thousands of empty seats for a few games in a row, then that would possibly make a difference. It would show the Glazers, and the banks that have leant them the money, that the supporters were serious in their efforts to get rid of them. But wearing colours won't achieve a thing.

Just give it a couple of weeks when they confirm the 2010/2011 ticket prices, with an expected increase of 11%. We'll see more protests then, that's a given.

And if it's even more of the same, they will be ignored just as they are now.

Either the Glazers will go because someone offers them a good price for the club, or the supporters make a strong stand of defiance which means that a Glazer run MUFC isn't viable. I don't think MU fans have it in them to make a strong stand, so I think the sad whining campaigns will be here for a long time.

First 10 would make a change - there's lots of fans have been 'boycotting' the last 10 minutes of games for some years now ...

Fans will be a little gutted missing a goal if they boycotted the first 10 minutes but ultimately the point of the protest should override that.

Too many fans have missed late United goals in games over the years but will still 'boycott' the last 10 minutes every home game to get to their car/ bus/ tram/ train/ pub etc.

Overall I agree with other posters in that the only protest the Glazers will understand is a monetary one - which I have stuck too. Only time I've been to OT since the takeover was the 2008 SL Grand Final, and that was cos I got the ticket for free and then I didn't buy anything in the ground.
I wasn't a ST holder but would regularly get tickets for games

No, but they are in regular communication with their puppy, who is doing the media spin.

TBH, there is nothing about colour schemes on the AC website, just on the United one. It's simple to get banners into any ground, the San Siro will be no different. It seems to me that United are just trying to put fans off taking GG to Italy, but it doesn't seem as though their efforts have worked as people with tickets are still intent on taking GG.

LGJM wrote:

Nobody's denying that GG are the colours of the protest, we want that recognition. However, it is important to let undecided fans understand that GG were the original colours of NH, so that they don't think two colours have just been plucked from anywhere. GG is also ideal, because (until last week) there was no GG items available in the Megastore so it's easy to identify over the United colours.

LGJM wrote:

I've done that, as have >40,000 others since the Glazer's came in. However, there are plenty of others who simply pick up the tickets. Getting tens of thousands to sacrifice just one game, at the same time, is impossible.

LGJM wrote:

If the kick off doesn't get delayed, that's even better, because the world's cameras will be seeing an OT game kick off with thousands of empty seats, whilst people protest outside. Then after 10 minutes, when people start entering again, OT will be just a chorus of LUHG chants. A very effective message.

LGJM wrote:

As The Boy TC has said, loads of people skip the last 10 minutes when we score a load of our goals, winning goals too. I remember the City league game and loads of folk walked out at 1-1. The risk of missing one goal to send a very clear message to the Glazer's is worth it, and a lot of people are up for it, much more than missing a full game.

LGJM wrote:

Which is why the GG campaign was started. We are simply learning from our mistakes of 2005. There were loads of campaigns to try prevent the takeover, the main problem was that there were also loads of clear divisions in the fan base. The GG is uniting all United fans, including FC fans.

LGJM wrote:

At the moment it is impossible to implement a mass boycott of a game. However, through time, as more and more people come to terms with the severity of the Glazer's damage to the club, boycotting will become more of a reality. It's all about taking small steps, and doing them properly, to build up to the big boycotting events. Last time, protests tried too much too quickly without the full support of all supporters, the GG is only the first of many steps, but at least it's getting the support of the media, supporters and some United staff, including players.

Hopefully the MUST led "Red Knights" will be able to buy the club.

Temptation, greets you like your naughty mate,

The GG campaign reminds me of the old Rage Against the Machine for xmas no1 campaign. Great idea but in the end won't change much in the grand scheme of things.
