What's Chris Hoy doing on that Stoke non-goal? He has a clear view and is about to give a goal before looking at his linesman, who is behind a whole load of players with no clear view of the incident, for confirmation. Linesman can't see it so doesn't signal anything. Poor effort

It was digusting and then he claims not to have seen it when he had the best view in the stadium

Exactly. At the least it should have been handball. The linesman can't give anything, he has no view. The referee has to back himself.

Fair enough if he waves it away and says it hasn't gone over the line but he didn't he claimed not to have seen it even though he went to give the goal put his whistle to his lips and then bottled it

It's about all you can base it off, he was barely given a sniff over here, when he did play, he was very good when you take everything into account, exceptional, actually.

No club with 'targets' loans out a player of that quality: would United loan Anderson out? Would Arsenal loan Ramsey out? Would Chelsea loan Mikel out? Unlikely, yet we have done so ruthlessly.

We'll regret it, in our first few games under Roy, we've failed to get our passing game going, largely 'cause it hasn't been there. Signing Poulsen and letting Aquilani go makes things even worse.

All these great players you had an yet seventh. Something just doesn't quite make sense here. I wonder what it is? Hmmmm.

Not a natural goalscorer but what he brings to the team does indeed make him a talisman.

I only saw it once and was only looking to see if the ball crossed the line.

I didn't think the ball crossed the line when I saw it.

The way you describe it Hoy could have thought a goal was going to be scored and automatically reacted to give the goal. Then the ball is stopped on the line, he feels a goal hasn't been scored but rightly checks to see if his lino thinks otherwise. The lino says he was unsighted so he goes back to his original position that no goal has been scored.

I've just watched the incident again on a net highlights site. I don't think the ball crossed the line. From the replay on that site I'd say there's no evidence of handball and no evidence that Hoy was going to give the goal.

I think Hoy made the right decision.

I'd recommend you watch the Goals on Sunday explanation of the "goal". The ball crossed the line, there is no doubt about this. The positioning of Crouch's body shows this.

Haven't watched Goals on Sunday, but how can the positioning of Crouch's body show that all of the ball was over the line?

It often seems to me that when its claimed that the ball crossed the line its unclear whether all of the ball has crossed the line. There are obvious exceptions such as Lampard's "goal" against Germany and Spurs at United but these seem to be the exception rather than the norm.

Lucky for us that Carew's penalty was absolutely shocking.
