The only upside of going out tonight is that is should concentrate our minds on the league. We can use this and really kick on. TBH I saw the potential fixture list if we were to stay in the CL and it was frightening, now it won't be anywhere near as bad.

But if I was to guess over the reaction of this side, my guess certainly isn't positive.

Re: Even More Football Chat : Wed Mar 17, 2010 12:19 am
I watched the last ten minutes of the game again.

The ref gave a foul against Drogba when he won the ball for an aerial challenge. Can't for the life of me work out what Drogba had done wrong.

The incident where JT got booked. He had the ball and was barged into by the Inter player. JT went down because of the collision and tripped the Inter player because otherwise Inter would have a clear break. If JT hadn't been fouled then he'd have 100% deserved the yellow, but again I cannot work out why the ref hasn't given us the free kick for the initial foul in the first place.

Same thing for the Drogba sending off. Chelsea are attacking down the left, Drogba's in the middle of the box, waiting for a possible cross. Thiago Motta barges right into the back of Drogba, Motta then falls to the floor and Drogba possibly steps on his foot. The ref then blows up, awards Inter the free kick and sends Drogba off. If Drogba has stamped on the Inter player's foot then he deserves the red card, but I'm puzzled that if the ref has seen the incident clearly enough to red card Drogba, he hasn't seen Motta barging into Drogba in the first place.

Good appointment. A Championship manager every day of the week. Forward thinking by the Hull City board.

Hope Inter are drawn against Arsenal in the next round. Wenger has never beaten Mourinho.

Want that to be the final TBH, with Inter winning.

Want Arsenal to be humiliated by Inter. Even if they aren't humiliated, I want them out of the CL as soon as possible.

They got lucky last time with Porto. CSKA are the weakest team left in (should Olympiakos go out) and unless they get the Russians I think your wish will come true.
Living in Catalonia, Barça winning in the Bernabeu would obviously have its benefits (eg free beer and a day off work).

Quite correct, Wayne Rooney is the complete player

Define; complete.

I'd say Torres is quicker, has better movement, is a better finisher, is a better 1v1 dribbler and I believe he leads the line on his own better. Who's stronger is a kinda strange debate, Wayne is stronger on the ball but I believe Torres is strong when it comes to aerially challenging defenders. Wayne may well help back in the defence, but Torres is no slouch and I don't consider that a vital aspect of a centre forward. Wayne's passing and involvement in play is better, he's more versatile and his new found consistency is hard to match, but in terms of attributes a centre forward needs, I still feel Torres is stronger. Having the ability to play out wide and help out in defence doesn't make him a better player, the best striker of my generation - Ronaldo - never had these attributes but it never stopped him being the dog's nuts.

As I said, if Torres' past two seasons hadn't been hampered by consistent injuries, I believe he'd have fully established himself as the best out and out striker in the world. I know it'll be funny coming from a Liverpool fan, but if next year (always next year etc.) he can stay injury-free then I'd back him to finish the league's top scorer and probably Europe's, even if he leaves us.

Makes you wonder why clubs are, appaerently, willing to pay over £30m for Sergio Aguero, but if clubs were willing to part with about half of that last summer, they could have signed Sneijder.

I know they are not similar players but smeone like teh Dutchman could make, for example, us into a top 4 team. Aguero would be a risk.

As for Robbie Rotten's post - as much as I like Rooney as a footballer, I'd agree with your post. If I could choose any centre-forward in the world at this moment, it would be Torres
