He's actually started 24 games this season and featured in 40 so that's a bit unfair.
It's a PFA award so we have to think that professional footballers know more than you (shudder) and me (double shudder). I accept that sentimentality may have assisted a bit but it's not as if they started a Facebook group to make sure all the votes went to Giggs.
The only problem I have with this award is that they vote for it far too early. They should be voting for it now.

I meant in the league, which is what I thought this award was for, as the CL has their own seperate awards.
Giggs has had a decent year but I thought it was a joke that he was in the running for the award, now he's won it it just shows how ridiculous it is.
Another thing, why is it voted in January?
This is an apparent high accolade but it's a shambles to be honest, clearly shown as this is the first time Giggs has won it, which is silly.
I was watching SSN a few weeks back and all they were banging on about was Giggs against Chelsea. He had a good game, no doubt, but let's be honest he hasn't performed as consistently as Gerrard, Lampard or Vidic.
It's nice that players have voted Giggs out of sentiment, but that's the thing about these awards, players vote with their hearts and not their heads.
