Yeah, and certain things were either not done, or they were faked. Light tubes are notoriously unpredicable when they break as anyone whos had to change one can testify. If you're gonna use them in a wrestling match, get sugar glass ones. they go poof in a very satisfying and impressive looking way and you don't get brutal, life threatening injuries

It really is mental though - if light tubes drew money WWE would have done it years ago. But A it's sick and disturbing and B, it would be neither entertaining nor a ratings draw.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're isn't similar crazyness occuring somewhere over here, but personally I'd rather go see a company that puts on a show that's entertaining for both families/kids and adults (like NGW or All-Star), rather then watching some guy the same age nearly losing limbs.

Just been kinda reminiscing (sp) courtesy of that popular video website. Just wondered how long people on here have been wrestling fans, and what some of your best/fondest memories are as a fan?
For me I first started watching in 1991 as an 8 year old, stopped in 1994, then got back into it in 1999.
Favourite matches of all-time would include Bret Hart v Mr Perfect (SS 91) Hart v Bulldog (SS 92), HBK v Ramon WM10), + Hogan v Yokozuna at WM9 (even though most wrestling fans seem to hate it! ).

I watched my very first Wrestling 'thing' about aged 4, walking in on my uncle watching Wrestling and running out screaming in horror at what I saw - I'm sure it was Davey Boy Smith trying to drown Shawn Michaels, though I do remember him having ECW on during my early days and also some brutal matches that I vaguely recall Mankind/Goldust in.

I was interested as to what the hell it was, and also excited that at any time, I would be scared.
Two things then got me hooked onto Wrestling;
1) The aforementioned uncle told me that Davey Smith was 'only from Golborne' - Wow, Golborne, not ten miles from my home!
and
2) I saw my first Bret Hart match.

As I grew a little older, I actively sought out a monster collection of Wrestling books, videos, toys etc. When I was on Holiday in Rhyl circa 1998/9, I bought an old WCW annual at a carboot sale (pure kayfabe) just to see how radically different, or not, Wrestling develops over peroids of time.
Some of my best memories of matches as a kid include the WCW Starrcade PPV, where they had an International Tag Team invitational (like the Dudley's recent one, only in a One night KOTR format), where you get to see Rey Mysterio Sr wrestle.
Also, Bret Hart's matches with The Undertaker were standouts in my mind, as well as the WM match with Austin.
Owen Hart's dungeon match with Ken Shamrock was fun to watch and I was also a big Goldust mark in the 90s.
Mick Foley appearing as all three gimmicks in the Royal Rumble was hillarious.

As I grew up, opinions and the way I viewed wrestling evolved over time, but the passion I had for two blokes in the ring with the ability to have an audience glued to their every move never wained.
IMO, the top 5 Wrestlers I have ever seen are Bret, Dynamite, Tiger Mask, Rollerball Rocco and The Undertaker - if only for being the best 'big man' ever.

i remember the world of sport wrestling and being treated once a blue moon to a bit of wwf with vince commentating . i had my photo taken with shirly "big daddy" crabtree but then it kind of died off for me.
then along comes sky i used to watch it at my mates and lend the PPV recordings but it was only when SL came out and i paid to sky installed and got hooked again.
it was the same time that Jake the snakes where getting moved aside for hunter Hurst and stone colds .and a very young rock.
HBK V Heart ect
loved the taker-mankind battles but then got married moved house and took another 3 years before i got sky again by that time it was the Dudley's and Hardy's battling E n C . thought it had moved to a new level watched it for a while then left it but know my boys need daily doses of wwe .
the bed room is a shrine to the wildcats and wwe

fave moments angle v stone cold and the alliance story .. was the best out of ring moments ever in the old wwf . especially the rock interviews

Wow , right match between Edge and Jeff Hardy

As much as I enjoy watching Jeff Hardy matches, he does tend to mess up alot on his and opponents moves.

Regarding Raw this week, Thought it was a pretty good Raw to say it followed on from a PPV. I'm guessing Orton will be getting a little bit of a rest now :(

I can thank ITV for getting me interested in wrestling when they started showing wcw in the early 90's.I remember back then the big names only faced each other in the ring in ppv's so the whole hour used top be people like Sting and Big Van Vader beating the crap out of a bloke for about 5 mins and you'd get a few interviews setting up the next ppv inbetween.

Can't remember the year I started watching, a guess would be 97 or 98. I remember the first match I saw though. It was The Rock vs Mankind vs Ken Shamrock in a steel cage match. It was a proper steel cage too, not the ones made out of chicken wire you see these days  A friend taped it and brought it round when he slept over and this was the match it was at. He left it and I think I still have it somewhere.

After watching that I was hooked and would fall asleep watching Raw every Friday night. Used to love the tag division with the Hardys, Dudleys, Too Cool, Crash & Hardcore Holly, Headbangers, Edge & Christian, Acolytes and New Age Outlaws, my favourites were Kai En Tai, their promos were great
