âTime to refocus for Cougarsâ says Eaton. : Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:24 pm
When Keighley Cougars players report for training tomorrow (Tuesday) evening it will be the first time they have worked together as a unit since last Thursday eveningâs televised defeat at Dewsbury Rams.
Part of the process will be watching a video analysis of that disappointing result together with Head Coach Barry Eaton.
âThere were lost of factors that contributed to that result,â said Eaton, âbut the bottom line was that we were the architects of our own disaster with the number of mistakes we made during the game.
âWe shall conduct a full review of what went wrong and use that exercise as a re-focussing on the targets we set ourselves at the start of the season.â
The Cougars squad is virtually injury free for the first time since the start of the season and without a game this weekend Eaton wants to spend the time concentrating the playersâ minds on the remaining games in the run up to the end-of-season play-offs.
The Cougar chief added: âWhile we were very disappointed about what happen at the Tetleyâs Stadium last Thursday evening we have to view the result in context with the whole season.
âDewsbury are a good side who played well on the night and we will have an opportunity to set the record straight when we face them in a televised Co-operative Championship One game at Cougar Park on Thursday, July 30.
âBut that game is in the future. First we have to concentrate on our next game which will be against Rochdale Hornets at Cougar Park on Sunday, June 28 (Kick off 3.00pm).
âIt would have been good to have a chance to get right back in the saddle after that result to Dewsbury and play this weekend.
âBut we donât have a game scheduled and Iâm attempting to see whether itâs going to be possible to arrange a reserve team at the last minute so that at least some of our players can have a run outâ.
