Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe will be coming to Cougar Park on Sunday, June 28 to lead a celebration of the Cougar Pride Centre.
The Bradford South MP will be the guest of honour at Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One fixture against Rochdale Hornets when there will be a celebration of two years work at the ‘Playing for Success’ classroom at Cougar Park, the Cougar Pride Centre.
The Minister will be leading the celebrations of the Centre’s achievements.
Pupils from schools in Keighley and surrounding districts have been regular visitors to the Cougar Pride Centre which has now established itself as centre for excellence for combining education and Rugby League.
Liz Kidman, the Cougar Pride Centre Manager, said: “This is going to be a red letter day for the Centre.
“To have the Minister of Sport at our celebration rubber stamps the quality of work being undertaken within our programmes and we’re very honoured that he has been able to accept our invitation.”
Besides Mr Sutcliffe other guests at the opening will include Keighley MP Ann Cryer, one of the trustees for the Cougar Community Foundation, who will be leaving Parliament at the next General Election.
Helen Carter, the Keighley Cougars’ General Manager, said: “We’re really proud of the Cougar Pride Centre.
“Their work is innovative, engaging and has real benefits not only for the Cougars but for the whole community”.
