Co-operative official Steve Ives has donated 50 Mars branded rugby balls to Keighley’s Cougar Community Foundation so that they can be used to encourage more young players to try rugby League.
Mr Ives, who is based at the Co-operative’s headquarters in Manchester, comes from Keighley and has made the gesture to his home-town club.
Dean Muir, the Cougars Community Foundation Manager, said: “We’re really grateful to Steve for this gesture. It will help us strengthen the grass root sport within the Keighley area and enable more young people to try their hand at our sport.
“It’s really generous of Steve to support the Club and Foundation in this way. Not only will it give us the chance to stage more games but it will enable the Foundation to direct resources where they are most needed.”
Muir also said: “If other supporters or companies would like to make similar donations to the Foundation we would certainly open to offers. I can be contacted via the Cougar Office Tel: 01535 606044.”
