Community Cougars Foundation held the first West Craven Cluster Tournament on Thursday 15th July.Chris Baines Keighley Cougars player and sports development coach for the Community Cougars Foundation has been coaching tag rugby to years 5 and 6 across the West Craven area for the last six weeks.
The tournament which was held at Victory Park saw Coates Lane, Kelbrook, St Josephs, Earby, Springfield, Barn Oldswick C of E, Thornton in Craven and Blacko compete for the boys and Coates Lane, Kelbrook, St Joesphs and Barn Oldswick for the girls.
The overall winners for the boys were Blacko, the cluster tournament winners for the boys were Coates Lane and for the girls, Kelbrook.
Chris Baines was delighted with the tournament "I am really happy with how it went. The children showed great skills in what was a closely contested competition.
It's the first time the Cougars have coached in this area and the children have really enjoyed it. They have learnt new skills and now have a good understanding of rugby league.
We are a community club and it's fantastic that we now coach in the West Craven area."
