Sad Passing of Another Cougar Fan ! : Wed Jan 08, 2014 7:09 pm
It’s a while since I posted but just wanted to give a mention to an old friend, Cougar Fan and Sponsor, Bernard Rollins. Bernard sadly passed away on the 28th December 2013 age 70.I know there a few people on here that will have know Bernard. He was a top bloke and life long Keighley fan(long before the days of Cougarmania), and it was he and his family that introduced me to Cougars back in the early 90s.
His company board KADEL Engineering was a regular fixture at Cougar Park for many a year, he also contributed to the signing of Daryl Powell. He was also at that time a life member, but you wouldn't find Bernard sat in the stand, he preferred to stand with his brother and sons on the terrace virtually in the same place for many a year.
He was also a regular fixture on the away coach which ran from first the Granby then later the Vic Hotel,and on those days preferred to stand with the now legendary Spice Boys (and Girls), many a beer was sunk by us all back in those days.
Although he became disillusioned with the game in the past few years he still loved the Cougars and the Cougar Family, He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. I am sure you all join in me in sending condolences to his family. I have been in touch with the family; the funeral will be held this Friday 10th January 2013 at 1.45pm at the Knowle all Cougar Friends welcome.
