Knew it was going to be a drubbing, but that ! Tell Blackpool to keep our place warm in div champ 1 we'll be back in September. Can't wait for next weeks KN, darling Barry's list of excueses will run to two pages at least. The pride has gone and I don't mean that kiddie nonsense under the stand, all we get now is endless waffle about 'communities, schools, and clap-trap'. Get a clean out at Lawlkholme , the RFL named one not fit person, there are more. Love him or hate him Peter Roe would not have stood for that performance. The fans will vote with their feet the more this goes on. IKEA is starting to look more interesting for a Sunday afternoon. For the six or so Keighley fans that make up this site, how much more of this are you going to swallow before you gag? BE HONEST
Maybe fans like you are better off at Ikea, I for one will still be supporting the team home and away till the rest of the season.
I think it is a total disgrace Spencer is allowed in the club, after speaking to directors in Toulouse who clearly blame him why is he not banned from the club.
I think Barry is the best thing that has happened to Keighley in a long time and he takes real pride in the job he does.
I'm sure you've been a Cougars fan a lot longer than me, Maponus, but that post seemed more than a little bitter! I think it's a bit unfair to criticise all the hard work done by Rach and the other community types, I think what they do is about more than just finding future Cougar fans, and it's surely valuable for the wider community in it's own right? I saw the game on the telly; yes, Keighley were pretty dire. Barry came out and gave an interview straight after the game and I didn't hear any excuses, just honesty. He's also held a fairly good squad together through some fairly unsettled times just now, so the players at least must have some faith in him. I think that, on the whole, our game is getting better by the week - with the notable exception of this performance!
I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say to be honest.
I can only agree with your opening sentence and I thought your second line true once we were deducted nine points. I honestly thought that we would not win one single game.
However I can't recall Barry ever hiding behind excuses - he just says it as it is.
As for working with schools and communities well thats not just part of modern sports its common sense (and also gains access to funding that we would otherwise not have).
You say that Peter Roe would not stand for that type of performance so I assume you think that Barry will? Do you honestly think that any coach would?
Against all expectation we have steadily improved this season, but this is a major setback. What is important is how we respond and that we give the team our support.
As for the posters on this site - there may be only 20 or so regulars but there are several hundred that read it.
The nature of your post just makes it appear that you are carrying a grudge - if you have a problem with Barry go and talk to him, I'm sure he will listen - or do you prefer to carry out character assassination by proxy?
I was there last night and congratulations to Fev they are very good team, although we didnt help ourselves at times they were simply too good. No shame in that its just a fact there is a gap between teams at bottom and top.
One thing I will say and possibly agree with is we let far too many folk in for nowt, apart from players, their parents and genuine employees of the club everyone else should pay this includes coaches of cubs too as in my eyes one minute some say they are seperate from club but yet willing to get in free, things may have changed on this but as far as I am aware this still happens.
Peter Roe was and I emphasise was a good coach he had a few shots at cougar coach job, but things move on. Barry in my eyes is one of the best coaches we have had for years.
Anyone who has taken time to speak to arry after games will know he says it as it is whether good or bad so not sure where Maponus is coming from.
If the club is as bad as you feel it is then I am sure Ikea will glady accept your custom. The post as dreamer indicates seems very bitter and perhaps you either approach the club or accept things as they stand.
Regardless of results like others I will continue to watch the team home and away as that what loyal fans tend to do. How you can say pride is gone beats me the lads tried hard and yes some tackling was very poor the effort was there.
Strange you only came on after we got tanked no reference made to the good games v fax, sheffield and dewbury wonder why that is.
As for the dig at the work being done off the field by various people its harsh and somewhat poor to criticise what is clearly a success at the club and schools etc so well done to all.
Finally is your criticism of coaching aimed at just Barry or other coaches ie: reserves and under 18s.
Wow! And I thought I was pi55ed off at last night's dismal effort.
If all you want to do is come down and see Champagne rugby and victories you're at the wrong club, go and watch Leeds, Br*dford and Huddersfield with all the other Cougarmania drop-outs.
Keighley Cougars is more than just a rugby club, it's the beating heart of a whole town, to some people it's a way of life.
I spent the better part of £300 to watch them play really badly and lose against 12 men in Toulouse but I wouldn't change it for all the world.
I've said this before, to experience the highest highs you must experience the lowest lows. No Leeds or Wigan fan will ever experience the feeling of elation we did when we won in Warrington or when we beat Sheffield Eagles in the cup and invaded the pitch.
Keep the faith, we will get better eventually but we need time, and importantly patient and understanding fans to get us to where we want to be.
I'm sure barry and the players were just as upset as the fans. But i'm sure Cougars will turn it around. Every club gets a thumping sometime. Yes Barry is a good coach, and i have faith in him. I wiil be there against Barrow on bank holiday monday. Look out for the backlash Barrow.
GP - Have you any idea how much time the Cubs Coaches, Physios and staff give up their time and the expenses they incur on the thankless task. They are salt of the earth putting something back into the community for the next generation. The town has less clubs and things for young people than it did a generation ago. This comes with an amount of grief from parents, players and opposition staff that they have to take in their stride week in and week out. Put on top of that the short notice venue changes and incidents of the being put down and not supported by the club on occasion.
Now how many players have come through the Cubs ranks over the years? Have their volunteers always been allowed free entry to home games? ( Worth £100)
If you added up all the hours in a year pre, during and post matches and training and attending disciplinary hearings, or going to hospital etc and divided the £100 between that we are talking about a few pence per hour if that, you would deny them? I doubt the club loose out as they will buy a pint or two maybe whilst at each game.
If you say the Cubs coaches should not get in for free, then would it not be just as fair to say you shouldn't get in and enjoy watching our future players playing for free also!!!!!!!
I think on the back of last nights performance to link it to Cubs Coaches getting in free is short sighted and irrelevant. Save a few quid. Anoy them. I know 1 thinking of quitting. Are you going to take his place?
If anybody thinks the coaches only do it to get into games free, then they must be thicker than a Skipton doorstep.
Thats ridiculous. Like saying "He only joined the paras to get a free pair of boots."
If you charged all the Coaches the £100 for the years viewing, well we would be rich. Happy days, no more problems, could buy loads of players with that money couldn't we. NOT
Please stick with your team, i have been watching Rovers for some 35 years and seen us win every major honour in the game, i have also seen some abysmal performances in that time, defeats much greater than you suffered yesterday, i once went as a 15 year old on a Wednesday night away to Wigan and we lost 48-0 that in the days of 3 points for a try. Yet 2 months later we won the challenge cup by beating the unbeatable Hull side at Wembley, keep the faith
