a question I have is are the rfl going to gateshead to continue to be classed as a development club and the amount of overseas players higher than other clubs. hope the rfl make them same as all clubs. Regarding leigh congratulations on being saved by the rfl. One thing worries me is that leigh have asked to be allowed to spend the money that should be used on ground and infrastructure and divert it on money on players. A dangerous precedent could be set if we are saying we have nice ground so sod the salary cap. Simply put the rules must be applied to ALL clubs. My criticism is not aimed at leigh fans but the club for trying it on. H opefully the rfl will reject this but as we all know the rfl and fairness do not belong in the same sentence.

Am I right in saying that LSV not owned by the club and is a council house?

If so it sets a extremely dangerous precident.

If a club can get a bigger cap because it got a brand spanking new state of the art facility paid for by the tax payer it gives them an unfair advantage.

Those 2@s at Br*dford Met are never going to build us a new ground in a million years because they're more concerned with giving Chav Catalogue Stadium it's decadely refurb.

It should be a fixed cap regardless of facilities otherwise the gap between the haves and the haven'ts will become huge.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Correct , It is a council ' facility ' , nothing more

You are however getting the wrong end of the stick here

When we were in Championship 1 [ yesterday ] we were asking the RFL for a Salary cap excemption because we had already spent more than the Championship 1 SC before we knew we were relegated

Now however , because we are now a Championship club we are and will remain within the relevant Salary cap

The bit about us not having to spend anything on the stadium was part of our argument yesterday

I look forward to my visit to Cougar park [ especially as the terrace drinking rules have been relaxed ] as i have always enjoyed going there

I know this a hypothetical question now you are back in the Championship..

but had you stayed in Division One...

Surely your overspend against the salary cap for the season to come should have been your problem to deal with. and not something that would have put you at an advantage over the rest of the division.. why should have the rest of the National League One operate within the salary cap and not you ?... looking at your league position /results through the 09 season your not telling me that someone within your club hadn't actually thought 'oh oh t the figures wont add up if we get relegated '

Ambition ,yep wonderful but wht should those clubs that are financialy prudence n work within the rules be penalised..

Now I think you are missing the point. Before we finished in a relegation position contracts had been signed for players which was in excess of the salary cap for Champ 1.

Were Leigh then to say to players we can,t honour that contract we would then be forced to pay up without that particular player. Not a lot of sense in that is there ?
