Based on what is on teletext the rfl are consulting with all championship 1 clubs as to whether they agree to a welsh club in next season. The fact the club will play at brewery field the same ground where the crusaders are leaving partly due to lack of interest. Am I missing something but what the hell are the rfl doing why would the welsh folk suddenly accept the new lot. perhaps this team would be a feeder team for the crusaders. the rfl have again suprised me.
I get the impression from other threads that the lack of interest was down to the owner not being liked locally because of other failed sports teams in Bridgend.
By all accounts he's not associated with this new outfit.
As most people know, South Wales is a hotbed of Union talent but only has 4 professional teams so there's a real opportunity to tap in to this talent with another Welsh club.
So long as they slowly develop a fan base and youth system and not aim for Super League in the first 5 years like the Crusaders did there's a realistic chance of it working down there.
