The Keighley Cougars squad have returned to pre season training ahead of their 2010 season in the Co-operative Championship.
Head Coach Barry Eaton said ‘It’s been a great start to pre season training with three really good sessions. On Tuesday and Thursday the players did intense weight training and then on Friday it was a field session.’
The weight sessions have been taken by club conditioner Paul Royston who has been impressed with the attitude of the players and commitment to the first training sessions. The squad is training three times a week together but also two sessions individually.
The Cougars have signed 5 new players over the closed season ,Chris Baines, Tom Burton, Sam Crowther, Richard Jones and Craig Moss, Eaton says ‘The new lads have settled in very quickly and have intermingled in training well which is something Paul Royston wanted to incorporate in his conditioning sessions.’
Keighley Cougars first pre season match will be away against Hunslet Hawks on the 27th December which will give the squad a chance to have a run out against a good side and for the new players to get an early taste of action and experience the new structure of the team.
The Cougars can also announce a pre season home game against St Helens who will provide a mixed reserve team on the 24th January. It gives the new look Cougars team a chance to work together before the new 2010 season.
